Everyone should have received a PM asking for a small donation.

If Greg cant raise enough money to cover the operating cost of this site, he is going to install Ads. He gave me until September to get the word out.

Our site runs on a virtual server because our Database is so large. This increases the cost. Many of you may remember the days when we were on shared hosting and the site would lag. Well, we cant get back on shared hosting if we wanted just because our site is too big for shared hosting.

Personally, I dont think asking for $5 a month is unreasonable. I believe you can donate as little as $1.

I'm not sure about you all, but I dont want to see Ads... just saying.

yeah...imma donate, this time on a regular basis. to each their own, but I do think its reasonable for those of us who have benefited from this place to help keep it from turning into a huge online billboard.

Greg did say that if donations exceed the cost of hosting the site and renewing the domain name, and they were consistantly that he would let us pick a charity to give the excess to. But let's just see if we can cover the costs first.

What I can say is that this place is a ministry.
Lots of people have questions that they are too embarrassed to ask anyone but Google.
It can come from last Sunday's sermon or wherever.
Invariably they end up here reading threads that we have been discussing things in.
The very things that they want to know about.
Now they don't become members here...they just lurk. But they read your discussions.

It's not horribly expensive to operate this site...but it's more than what GregHead should have to bear alone. Especially since we enjoy this site so much.

We don't sit down in a Starbucks or McDonald's to meet friends without ordering something to drink or eat... whether we are hungry or thirsty isn't relevant. We just do it.

That's all that's being asked here.
The money won't be able to be tax deductible...but then again it isn't exactly a lot of money either.

$60.00/yr is cheaper than an Amazon prime account. ($5/mo is...)

Most sites of any size need help from the membership. Just do. Between hiring database managers and coding specialist from time to time and then the other fees...it gets to be too much to ask from one person. But together we can raise the money and make it happen.
