Don't wait

There are a lot of times in life we wait for that "right time," and sometimes that's appropriate. Other times, we're putting something off. Tomorrow is never promised, if there's something that can be done today, that should be done today, do it today. Whether it's forgiving your second cousin for embarrassing you at that Christmas party or telling that one person how much you actually love them, don't wait on it.

James 4:13-15 NIV:

Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”

Ecclesiastes 9:11-12 NIV:

I have seen something else under the sun:

The race is not to the swift
or the battle to the strong,
nor does food come to the wise
or wealth to the brilliant
or favor to the learned;
but time and chance happen to them all.

Moreover, no one knows when their hour will come:

As fish are caught in a cruel net,
or birds are taken in a snare,
so people are trapped by evil times
that fall unexpectedly upon them.

Matthew 6:25-34 NIV:

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

I think Jesus alluded to this in the NT somewhere when referring to a tower or some structure collapsed and said it was not God's will, but said something to the effect that accidents happen. Are we spared chance death because we have some purpose/work to accomplish? If so, we'd better not waste the grace granted us under the Sun while upon this Earth in this life.

This is interesting to ponder upon. I'm convinced that if God didn't have something that he wanted me to do that he wouldn't keep bringing me back :P I need to really figure out what I should be doing and soon. I know in my life, I have probably wasted my fair share plus some of time.

We do procrastinate way to much at times which causes us to miss great opportunities that God might have placed before us in order to bless us. If we had a window into that we would probably never procrastinate again.

Kind of makes me think of Charles Mully, how he was a millionaire, but sold what he had and gave up that life to move to a barren plot of land where the soil wasn't great to start a place for orphans in Africa. The documentary "Mully" was amazing. Not only was that land barren, but his faith in God put that land into a paradise where they could grow tons of food. I admire that people seem to work so hard and when they put that hard work in for the Lord, it always leads to something amazing.

Same here. I feel like I'm supposed to help people, but I don't know how or in what capacity. Is this just training for the Kingdom? Is my book going to help new Christians/kids/those who wonder what/who God is all about? I really have no idea.

I guess sometimes we don't know all of what our impact has until it happens or until God tells us, "Well done."
