Yes, I know what you are talking about. When I was in 6th grade, I lived in a little town called Brandywine, WV. The teacher used to make us hold hands and pray everyday before lunch, and I thought it was the greatest thing in the world (go figure). Regardless, it is ILLEGAL. And little children only know what they're told. I asked my 6 year old brother why he believes in God, and he told me because my parents told him that God exists. And, out of the 9 public schools I've been to in the past 11 years, Brandywine Elem. was the only place where God was even mentioned.

I dont know if we can actually call atheism a religion seeing that it invovles not having a religion. Therefore im not sure if we can really say its growing or shrinking. How can a belief of not believing be a growing belief?

But you are right theres a difference to teach and preach. I think a teacher should teach and a preacher should preach anything else causes confusion.Also Im intersted what first caused you to think that God doesnt exist?

I really couldn't tell you, to be quite honest. I think, in part at least, it had to do with the addition of youth bible study at my church. We would go down and read the bible and discuss things...and God stopped making sense. Jesus became a myth, much like Robin Hood or King Arthur, and I started to see God as less benevolent and more violent. There were other factors too, such as the fact that the more I learned, the less important God seemed to be. The more I learned, the less God was needed to make the world work.

I have facts in my life that have proven to me that he is true,unlike
yourself. You wish God were not true,therefore you choose a fable to
claim you believe in to justify what you wish to do. I cannot do that,
I know God is real,and I accept him and what he says.
