I'm glad y'all have this group. I was reading...whether its PTSD or Schizophrenia, sometimes the most effective "help" comes from non-professionals, especially people in similar situations with similar problems.

Our group had a volunteer clinical psychologist on staff.I don't feel comfortable even talking to Christians about ptsd unless they understand it.this is not a Christ based group.though it has some Christians in it .
I don't have PTSD, but I do think chronic, low-grade stress+some trauma (low status, stigmatized, all that good stuff...) played a role in my initial "manic episode." Probably true of a lot of people...even short of bona fide PTSD, I think trauma plays a role in many mental illnesses.

After finding out I was the bastard child of an affair my mother had with an Episcopal clergy. Then suffering abuse at the hands of a man I called dad. I never even knew I wasn't his kid. Wondered why he tried to give me away. Later my mom tried handing me off to her married Episcopal priest pedo boyfriend. I walked in front of a car a few months after that.......yeah I know PTSD
