Dr. Gene and Pastor Scott

jgredline,
I didn't see your post before I posted, I must have been typing as you posted yours.

Thanks for the good report on Melissa. It is good to see she has a different perspective on the material things. that isn't to say she didn't keep much, but then..... hey, she says she can do what she wants with the money sent in, and as she says, it's none of anyones business, right?

I still appreciate her teachings. So far I have not disagreed with her on scripture analysis. She is a pro at that, that's for sure. When she talks about tithing to the ministry, well, I let God guide me to do that with every ministry. And I refuse to be intimidated by a minister who says give me your money so I can help the needy. When I see ministers all blinged up and have mansions I look at the tv set and think.... did my money go to purchase that expensive stage setting, or that expensive rug on the floor, or did my money to toward purchasing that expensive aquarium? It also irks me when a tv evangelist is so decked out you never see them wear the same outfit twice! :o So in cases like that.... I let God guide me there.

I just pray that the Lord's will be done.... And I refuse to contribute to ministries that are too much into materialism for their own benefit.

Hopefully, Melissa isn't doing that.

.

In the little bit I have seen her teach on, Ihave not heard anything that brings up red flags....If anything she has taught opposite of what Gene Scott taught in some cases especailly on Homosexuality. Gene embraced that sin saying people were born that way and mellissa condemend that teaching...This is when I had grown to have respect for this woman....

She has also come out against the WOF movement as well....

Well, well. Finally a Christian forum that is speaking about "Doc" and his wife. Beforehand nobody knew about him, and when I mentioned him, I'd be asked, "Dr. who?" So I never associated with him for that reason lest I be accused of listening to a cultic figure. I knew about Doc since the 80's and watched him a lot. Much of what I know about the bible started with him. And I am often mistaken to be a "British Israelite" and follower of Armstrong. Now the mystery is revealed why I do not want to be called that, although I believe in the lost tribes of Israel the way Dr. Scott taught, with an Assemblies of God background. He also taught on the Great Pyramid and the stars and the Celtic migrations and their relationship to the house of Israel.

I had a predisposition to believing that way before I "met" Dr. Scott, but his teachings shed light on them so that it could solidify what I already suspected. He had a genius IQ level and thoughtfully and carefully researched everything. Like him, I hate mindless sugar-coated Jesus messages. He was definitely a man of intellectual and biblical messages. I found that people who don't like him rather have "Jesus is the reason for the season" loopypops spiritual mentality.

"Broad is the way that leads to destruction"

LOL; I never really noticed if she was good looking or not....Truthfully speaking next to my wife, there are no good looking women....

ÃÂoppleganger, thanks for understanding and explaining yourself. I'm glad you picked up on my reasoning that hot=a lustful emotion. I'm pushing 50; am I turning into a prude? LOL, maybe, maybe not, but I just wanted to keep this from going "secular". Believe me, there are plenty of sites out there that express how people feel about her looks, the way she walks and talks... well you get the picture. No pun intended.

J and relic...

Now despite our pros and cons, I read something of Gene's that gets right to the core about who Jesus really was and is:

But Jesus never had any sense of imper-fection. He changed the Law, saying, “You have heard it said unto you, but behold I say,†and then, self-righteously with a consciousness of moral perfection, says, “Think not that I have come to destroy the Law. I am come to fulfill it.â€Â

There is one possible exception to that, when the rich young ruler came to him and said, “Good Master.†He stopped him and said, “Why callest thou me good?†Those that want to talk about Jesus not thinking he was perfect point to that verse; they miss the rest of it, because Jesus said to him, “Wait a minute. Don’t come and call me good rabbi, good teacher. If you are going to call me good, also recognize that only God can be good, so don’t tap the appellation on to me without recognizing that I am also God.â€Â

He had that sense of moral perfection; no sense of a moral inadequacy is ever exhibited anywhere in his behavior.

The interesting thing about this for me is; my Pastor gave a sermon last week that echoed what I set in bold above; almost verbatim. Great stuff for the anti-Jesus is God crowd.

Melissa, as I understand it, is in some financial straits. We should pray for her and if she's sincere indeed, God will take care of her ministry. As for the "fate" of Gene Scott and whether or not he was saved, well, it's in God's hands now, heh?

Vic
That was a really quote and one that will have to go into my bag for sure....

Gene Scotts teaching for the most part was good solid teaching, it was the way he lived that made him suspect. When I was studing the Cross, Gene Scotts stuff on the resurection was very, very good...made alot of sense and was solid....the problem is then he would turn around and teach that our body is the temple of God while smoking a cigar :o .....

As for mellissa, the way I see it is that in order for God to clean up that body he needs to weed it out....The strong and the elect will remain there and that body will grow again....I have no dought and that is my prayer.....

I do admit right here that I also smoke a good cigar now and then. I am like Bill Clinton though, I don't inhale. LOL God took a lot of desires away from me but for some reason, that one still remains.

If you look closely in that video, you may notice the band on the cigar; it is a Cuban Montecristo. :o 8-)

I can't fault a person (actually, I won't) for smoking. I have only been free of the nicotine demon for 5 years (thereabouts). I tried for years to get free, but sometimes not as hard as I did at other times.

I still love the smell of pipe tobacco, and I think I would still love the taste of a good cigar. But you don't smoke a cigar for the same reason you smoke a cigarette. You smoke a cigar for the sheer enjoyment. You smoke a cigarette because you are addicted to nicotine. I can't allow myself to indulge in that area. That would be like an ex-alcoholic thinking he could get away with taking a drink.

If Gene was smoking a Cuban, it just shows you he had connections as well as money. Cubans are illegal. Last time I bought a Monte Cristo, it cost me $19.00 for only one cigar. And it was only Honduran, not Cuban.
(How was it? If I had the money, and a steady supply, it would have been the only thing I smoked. It was that good.)

:-D It is almost evil that someone would take this conversation in that direction.

Do it again.
NO! LOL

BTW, The legal Montes are of Dominican Republic origin, with a Dominican and or Dominican/Honduan filler and a Dominican wrapper. ;-) They are $8.00 each for the #2 torpedos, which are one of their most popular Dominicans.

Are we now shifting to talking about cigars?

Up until recently, if you were able to go to Cuba, you were allowed to bring back $100.00 worth of contraban, "port to port".

Santa Monica? I heard it snowed out there a week or two ago.

Actually It did...

My 7 year old twins still have not seen snow. I am going to take them to the mountains the next time it rains. Hopefully this year.. 8-)

I am pretty sure that Don Pedro was making Monte Cristos from Honduran tobacco. It was supposed to be as close to the real thing as you could get without going to Cuba. This was several years back though, and I had to try one. They were very expensive around here if you could even get them.

Mine wasn't a torpedo. It was more like this one:

I can't even find Don Pedro listed on that website. Does he not exist anymore? Or do I have his name confused somehow?

I found a website that will sell you Cuban cigars shipped from Canada, and guarantee you that they are authentic Cubans. Kinda pricey.

You got the name right. He is/was a master cigar tobacco blender. He may have blended for Montecristo, I don't remember. Montes are usually blended with Honduran, Brazilian, Nicaraguan or Peruvian tobacco. The common denominator is Dominican. They do have a African blend available too.

This is where most of the companies moved their businesses after the embargo because of the climate and growing abilities. (H.Uppman, A.Fuente, Cohiba and others) They also did it to maintain relations with the US. It most closely resembles Cuba's growing climate, though some companies (like Punch) did move to Honduras. The cigar you mentioned above is a Brazilian/Dominican blend.

NP, Vic your just doing your job and looking out for other peoples best interest.
Yea it snowed here a couple weeks back in SoCal, it happens every once in a while.

I knew there was something I always liked about you, Vic---- just like "Doc" :-D

My vices are more towards the rum and cokes---- and I'm pushing 50 soon too.

Let's all pour a glass of Port, light a good cigar and turn on the Doc and get edumacated.

Hey tim_from_pa, so, being an old fan (not a reference to your age of course) of Dr. Scott, what do you think about some of the reforms Melissa is implementing in their church?
