Dreams you wish you never woke up from

Ok, I am not trying to start a fight. Just for the record. If you are vegan, vegetarian, or just eat super healthy than I get what youre saying, but most people eat all things. and its not bad when you eat them in moderation. This I have learned. :)

From the things that i have herd, i try to eat as healthy as possible. All that processed stuff is really not good for us. Maybe once a month though. And just because people eat it doesn't make it good. A lot of it causes some of thr things wrong with people today. Makes your kidneys work overtime to much! And shortens our life. The Bible says that we are supposed to live 120 years, and science agrees. But if we eat to much man made stuff, it does not give our bodies what we need. If it did, there would be no reason to take vitamins, or probiotics and such.

Including all the processed nasty foods along with high fructose corn syrup and salt and bad fats?

Do you know that corn is basically like eating insecticide now a days? The scientists have altered it so much that we are basically just eating poison.

*sigh*
Why did you tell me this? You ruined corn for me!
Jk
:tongue

No wonder heart disease is the main killer for women.

The 120 year thing confuses me. That comes from genesis. "I shall not always strive with men, for their days shall be an hundred and twenty years" I believe the verse says.

There's another interpretation that says this is the amount of time they were given to repent. If you were to accept extrabiblical sources, the book of Jasher (referenced thrice in scripture, twice by name) holds to this.

Im no vegan, but when Daniel ate only vegies he was healtheir than the king's people.

No one's perfect. But our bodies are temples. Diet and exercise are house repair.

Sorry but I only accept what the Bible says, and when science backs it up is an extra bonus. Things that are not of the Word of God only cause confusion, and are another man's interpretation. If what someone says backs up the Word then i pray and ask God if it is a reliable source.

I'm not telling you you are wrong, but the scriptures reference Jasher. "Is this not written in the book Jasher?" In other words "don't believe God made the Sun Stand Still for Joshua? Then go check Jasher".

My question is, while it is possible to live to 120, why do most people live to less then 100. It seems most die 80-90 or younger.

You are right however. God's word must be authoroty on all thigs.

Sorry for my misunderstanding. I do not know the book of Jasher....is it perhaps Joshua?

Most people die earlier than 120, because of many reasons. Life of sin is one, not believing that one has that long to live can be another, making wrong choices about food or whatever. Not standing by faith on ps 91. The list can go on and on. Most people believe that their alloted time is 80 years. But that was spoken to the children of israel while they were walking in the wilderness, and they were told that because they did under a curse for not believing God, about going into the promised land.

I believe that the Bible talks about the sun standing still for Joshua. I found the passage. It's Joshua 10:13 thanks :) just never read jasher, so not sure of the meaning or implication.

And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. Joshua 10:13

(Also he bade them teach the children of Judah the use of the bow: behold, it is written in the book of Jasher.) 2 Sam 1:18

Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. 2 Timothy 3:8 - Jannes and jambres are mentioned nowhere else in the 66 books of our Canon. However they are spoke about in the 79th chapter of Jasher.

Jasher is an Extrabiblical Historical text. It is NOT in the Catholic Apocrypha. There are three different texts by the name. Two which are forgeries, and one may be the real Jasher (however it may have minor blemishes from what I've read). It is not inspired, but referenced in scripture and holds historical value.OTE]

Thanks.....i went and googled it, and would have to pray about how to interpret it. If we rely on our own knowledge or our own interpretation of the Word of God then we could miss what is really being said, and what God wants conveyed.

chabad.org would have the book of jasher to read but not part of the tanach.

can we get back to topic? besides 120 years is in Hebrew calendar years which are shorter then our calendar year.

One question? Wouldn't the translaters have correctly done the math from Hebrew calendar years to our years?

no. the Gregorian calendar wasn't accurate at the time as we have corrected. the leap year we have is a newer idea. the initial audience must be considered. do we need to change the day when paul or the gospel say about the third or ninth hour?

Hmmmm, i see. Third or ninth hour? Is that the day of of pentecost? But nonetheless i really do not think that changing things is going to change the events.

no its the way jews marked the day then. it was started from sun up to sundown which was about a 12 hour day. they divided day and night differently then we do. we call night usually after 9pm. they call the next day after the sundown. ie shabat started this Friday from Jerusalem at sundown over there and ended sundown on Saturday. so that time is one day. they start the calendar day that way too I think. yes they do. tislev 25 starts always on sundown . aka channukah

I see. Good information to know. Gives understanding to different things.

In reference to 120 years, a pastor that i know was instructed by God to speak, and think 120 years for life. And for me i think taking the Word of God at face value is the right thing to do. Standing on God's understanding not mine. I do agree with studying though, because with knowledge can come strength, according to prov. 24:5, 10

you have to take in the obvious things the first audience would know. ie if you kinda notice when the circumcision is mentioned its never told to the Hebrew at horeb how to do it. they already knew. they were circumcised. genesis was orally passed but not written until moses wrote and really is a commentary about what happened prior to exodus. that is why noah has the unclean and clean animals going into the ark. yet nowhere in genesis is explaining what is the clean and unclean. but a Hebrew at the time after that would know because of the kosher laws.

Makes a lot of sense. I do agree that there is a lot of history, throughout the whole Bible, but i believe there is also a lot of things that the Body of Christ has access to in there as well. Otherwise, in Timothy, it would not have said that the Bible was given by inspiration of God, and useful for teaching us what is true, and makes us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong, and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip His people to do every good work. The Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two edged sword.....
