Early pilgrim maps

I love poring over old documents and recently started examining early pilgrim maps.

This Matthew Paris map is lovely but it seems to be in medieval French which is beyond me.

I wondered if anyone had links to more traditional maps that don't require advanced linguistic skills. The earlier the map the better but I would like the date and origin if you know it. Thank you.

You will find many older maps written in their native tongue. There are language translators you can download for free that will change the words to English in some cases. I had one before I got this computer and I can't remember the name of it, but did download it online. I ran into this problem when I was researching my family tree and many documents were written in Romanian. You could also buy a French to English dictionary. I love old maps and documents also.
