Elisha and the bears

2Ki 2:23 Then he (Elisha) went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up the road, some youths came from the city and mocked him, and said to him, "Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!"24 So he turned around and looked at them, and pronounced a curse on them in the name of the LORD. And two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths.

Who believe this was just a coincidence or directly from God?

Leviticus 26:21 “‘If you remain hostile toward me and refuse to listen to me, I will multiply your afflictions seven times over, as your sins deserve. 22 I will send wild animals against you, and they will rob you of your children, destroy your cattle and make you so few in number that your roads will be deserted.
Directly from God .

When the youth were saying "Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!" they were mocking a prophet of God and in essence they were mocking God too ! They were saying "Go up " as in the way Elijah left this realm .

Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

These youth reaped a mauling . And this was a message sent to the people about mocking God . Just think about all the times the youths were asked about their scars they carried and how the story lived on .

Brilliant! They all lived to tell the tale.

Ah, the dictionary speaks. Anyone “lurking around” is not being described in positive terms. Audiences to debates are called “audiences.” Do you need the dictionary definition to know what that word means? None of them participate in the debate. They observe. NO ONE BUT YOU would call them “lurkers.”
What an insult!

I’m moving on…maybe I come back later..
You argue against anyone who does not share your opinions.

What a way to live life.

God was protecting his prophet’s life as well as insisting His name be honored. By mocking the prophet, the strong young men, 50+ strong, were mocking God.

Elisha was a prophet of God. What he said comes to pass. If He says something, God will make it happen.

Luk 10:20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

1Co 14:32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

Therefore True prophets of God, should be extremely careful what they proclaim, Because God will make it happen, if they are indeed His prophets.

Jesus, Our Savior and Lord COMMANDED us to Love One Another, He did not say for us to do that only when we feel it is appropriate to do it.
Those who Keep His Commandments (belong to Christ) Love One Another, without fail.

Biblical love is action.

It is also speaking truth, no matter if it offends.

I admit, I can be to blunt and straight forward at times.

Uncompassionate? I can agree at times.

Grace and peace to you.

That is not necessarily a bad thing either. When Jesus went into the Temple over turning tables and casting people out of the Temple, would most certainly be seen as NOT compassionate. (Well to those who were being cast out)

Everyone has their own purpose and calling in the Body of Christ. And we have enough people in the Body that teaches Milk of the Word, or sugarcoating Truths to make easier to swallow.

This is what i am called to do (to backslidden Christians):

2Ti_4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Reprove = To Reprimand

Rebuke = express sharp disapproval or criticism of (someone) because of their behavior or actions. (such as teaching something contrary to Scriptures)

Exhort = strongly encourage or urge (someone) to do something.

No matter how you reprove, rebuke, or exhort someone, it will not appear to be done in love. Even if it is done in love.

Female bears, probably with young cubs, frightened by a large number of children, did what comes naturally and mauled, not killed, the aggressive youngsters. Anything more comes from the imagination of the reader.

People believe what the Word of God plainly teaches, do NOT believe what people from this last days generation teaches.

2Ki 2:23 And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
2Ki 2:24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

According to this inspired by God verses, the prophet turned around and cursed them, and then the bears came out of the woods and attacked the children. Believe the Word of God, don't believe the words of humans who try to rationalize verses away because they don't understand it.

Atheists will say, "what a horrible God." Swearing prophets and a God who harms children.

And i should care about what Atheist think? i do not care what the dead think. let the dead bury their dead.
You just said the same yourself. "the prophet turned around and cursed them, and then the bears came out of the woods and attacked the children."

Perfectly true. That is what the Bible says, but my take on it is that the bears simply acted in the way bears do.

It does not say "God did it." It says the bears did it. Anyone who says "God did it" is adding to scripture.

True the bears came out and attacked the children because he cursed them. That is what Scriptures teach, that is what happened. The bears came out of the woods, BECAUSE the prophet Elisha cursed the children.

You messed up the moment you said "but my take on it is" Your take on it, or my take on it, what you believe, or what i believe, is IRRELEVANT. What the Word of God plainly says is the TRUTH, regardless what your take on it is, or my take on it is, or their take on it is.

Mat 21:19 And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.

So Jesus cursed the Fig Tree, using your same logic that you use with Elisha and the bears, can you not say the Tree died because that is what Trees do? It died over night because of a disease of some kind.

The bears came out of the woods because the prophet Elisha cursed the Children. The fig Tree withered and died because Jesus cursed it. These things is what the Scriptures teach, and it does not need our take on it.
