Ellen G. White

I was looking through a book that had many photos of the plagiarist and false prophetess of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. It is really an irrelevant question, I guess, but was she Black, white, or of mixed racial heritage? My guess would be the latter.

I would say that this is a ridiculous thread that really shouldn't even be followed on by anyone, since it is degrading at best and racist at worst.

Ellen White is notable for having invented YE creationism. Her visions inspired Adventist missionary
George McCredy Price, who established it among some evangelical Christian Churches, from which it became widespread in America.

How can this thread be degrading or racist? Nothing was said that was either.

Ellen G. White was white but why does that matter, does that mean whites are the dominant race because God chose to used a white person over someone of a different race? NO! Think about what you posts before you post it, *edited*.

Interestingly enough, some 5 years after my original post, there is now a book out entirely on that subject alone, with a gazillion photos, authored by a Black minister of the SDA Church. My original premise appears to be correct, that she was of mixed racial heritage.

What would it matter?

BTW, what evidence do you have or care to share that would confirm your view that she was a "the plagiarist and false prophetess?" Do you have any evidence that EGW ever called herself a prophetess?

Is it possible that you have evidence of your own that could support your expressed view or will you have to resort to any one of the number of anti-EGW flame sites?

Again, what would it matter?

I find it most interesting that Jesus told us that we were to judge whether one was a false prophet by their fruits, not by what they taught nor by the doctrines and beliefs they held.
Is this because Jesus knew that if we judged others on their teachings, we would write them off arbitrarily simply because they were different from us? And it could be that we were the ones in the wrong? But fruit is foolproof. A corrupt tree cannot bear good fruit, nor a good tree evil fruit. I suggest a little research into Ellen White might reveal that she was held by her contempories, both religious and secular, and even by those who opposed her teachings, that as far as character was concerned, she was exemplary. And that is what fruit was all about. The development of character.

Gordon B Hinckley, a past prophet of the Mormon church, had an exemplary character. Does that support Mormonism as true? If so then that conflicts with the beliefs held by Ellen White and visa versa. So which is correct? Does Hinckley win for support of Mormonism if he had a better exemplary character than Ellen White?
The Pope has an exemplary character. Does that mean the Pope supports Mormonism whose president/prophet also had an exemplary character? Hinckley did not support the Catholic faith I can assure you.

brakelite2,

What we need to remember is that some will see the birds who are just lodging in the branches as fruit. 8-)

Actually, I find your summation fairly relevant.

What we would need to do now is determine if the espoused beliefs of EGW as collected through the multitude of her writings justify the notion that she was anything but a believer in the Lord and Jesus Christ, or that she pointed to a way different than what the Bible describes; salvation through the grace and redemption offered by the Father through the Son and Holy Spirit.

That's quite a different animal to try and eat frankly.

Think it over!!

There are so many who blindly take the word of critics, all of whose data ultimately comes from one man who was very untruthful. Now consider this: If there was a lovely banquet spread out and all were invited to eat freely and be blest, and you saw thousands eating and praising the quality of the food--and you saw one disheveled drunk walking away and saying there was nothing fit to eat there--would you believe him and walk away too?? Would you not rather go and taste for yourself??

God says "Taste and see" The proof of a pudding is in the eating. The way to KNOW for yourself if these works are inspired is to read them for yourself.

Read carefully for yourself: Desire of Ages: Christ's Object Lessons; Thoughts from the Mount; Patriarchs and Prophets; Ministry of Healing; Great Controversy: -- Why take ignorant people's word that she is a fraud and swallow down their nonsensical criticism and thus miss out on the precious blessing God sent for you??

Read the books-- and THEN make up your mind!! Until you do--you have no basis to judge.

Not one new criticism against her ministry has ever been put forth in over 100 years!! They all trace back to that one disheveled source. All these criticisms have been answered, shown to be lies, and defeated many times. Does it make any sense to refuse to learn for yourself what the food tastes like??

For those who like to say that her work was just to make money, we are providing you this Banquet of eBooks FREE for you to download! Here's your plate and cutlery--Taste for yourself!! Right click on the titles and choose "save target as" to download your spiritual Banquet.

THE PROMISE

"Men may get up scheme after scheme, and the enemy will seek to seduce souls from the truth, but all who believe that the Lord has spoken by Sister White and, has given her a message, will be safe from the many delusions that will come in these last days." Letter 50, 1906. Also 3SM, 83, 84.
