Collier,
Yes, I have copy of the ESV. It's a revision of the RSV. Many moons ago when I was involved with the Navigators, I memorized in the RSV. One problem - the RSV has a few liberal translation texts in it. It is, in general, quite accurate, and a good reading Bible for one as accurate as itis - IMO. The ESV is a recent revision of the RSV by the SBC (I believe). It is a very minor revision, but definitely improved, removing those liberal concerns.
I think it has a good balance betwen dynamic equivalency and formal equivalency. It is considered to be a FE Bible though. The RSV-tradition is also, I believe, still the most commonly read English Bible outside the US. (Not sureon this - the NIV may have caught up even thee.)
It also has some slight gender-inclusive changes - though very conservatively done, since the CBMW was behind this work, as a response to the TNIV. So it follows all of the CBMW translation guidelines.
Those of you who like the NIV might want to check out the NRSV. It's more free than the RSV/ESV, though IMO not as accurate. But IMO it is more accurate than the NIV and reads very well also.
