Evolution The Religion:
By: William Marchbanks
Since the courts have ruled that religion is not fit for our schools than evolution should not be taught in our schools. The definition of religion is 1) A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion. 2) Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe. By these definitions evolution is a religion. Let me explain why.
I have asked many evolutionist this one question.

Q: If in the beginning there was nothing and if all life evolved from a single molecule, what did the molecule evolve from?

The closest thing to an answer I’ve gotten is this. “The science is a work in progress and hasn’t found the answer to that question yet, however there is so much scientific proof that credits evolution that we have to believe.†The only problem is that all this scientific proof that this professor is referring to is based on the single belief that all life has evolved from this single molecule. Evolution offers no scientific explanation of how this molecule came into existence, and by doing so making the molecule supernatural. Causing evolution to be a religion until evolutionist can scientifically explain how the molecule came into existence.

Therefore I say we raise up and challenge the teaching of evolution in court with the argument that it is a religion based on both definition and lack of scientific explanation!

If you believe this makes people that believe in evolution into a religion, it would also mean that people that believe in germ theory, atomic theory and gravitional theory into a religion as well.

The problem is that you just defined science as religion.

Evolutionary theory does not cover how life started. It just covers how life progresses in a competitive environment.

You are trying to argue in a "God of the Gaps" style of argument. Basically, anything we do not know proves God since He must have done it. However, we learn more and there is less for God to do. So He ends up shrinking as our knowledge expands.

People use to think that angels moved the planets and stars. However, gravity got rid of that notion.

Likewise, we don't know exactly how self replicating organisms started, but we have a lot of very good theories that are being tested. The question is not "can self replicating molecules come into existance through mechanical processes" but instead "how common is this?"

The arguments you make are the same kind of arguments made against the idea that the Earth moves around the Sun. The Bible clearly states it does not do that. It says that the Earth is immovable and the Sun moves around the Earth. Now which do you believe, science or the Bible?

Good point. You don't have to call other theories religious because most of them would be dropped in a moment. Evolution is the fools faith and hope... ;-)

Funny thing, but seriously - I've never seen or heard of any "Churches of Evolution"....nor have I EVER been proselytized on the street or in any real -life situation about "converting" to a "Truth" of evolutionary biology, and I seriously doubt if anybody doing work in that area enjoys exclusive tax-exempt status... and...well... ;-)

Well, maybe you never went to public school, a museum or watched television.

:) Sure!! - I attended public school in one of America's premier communities of Christian hate-intolerance (Lancaster/Antelope Valley California), nearly flunked-out, because I was a non-blue eyed, non-aryan, anti-Christian mud race, enjoyed trips to the LA County Museum of Natural History, and have seen PLENTY of TBN/700 Klub/John Ankerburg television programs informing me to not believe in evolution because:

a.) It's "just a theory"
b.) Supposedly violates the "2nd law of thermodynamics", but hey - I thought that was physics, not biology!!! :o
c.) Will cause me to become a Communist Socialist Liberal & kill millions, cuz I hates Jesus.
d.) It will make me listen to rock music and dance like a monkey & fornicate.
e.) Will not allow me to appreciate how "complex" a piece of rock or a random fallen tree branch is.

;-)

Q: If in the beginning there was nothing and if all life evolved from a single molecule, what did the molecule evolve from?

well, saying that "we dont know yet" is better than saying "God did it, and he has been around for forever"

"well what made god"
"nothing, god is infinite"

It is more likely, for it to already have been "infinite" with out adding god in. By adding in God, you are make it millions of times more complicated.

Really, it's just the folly of infinite regress... ;-)

Can anyone find any credentials for William Marchbanks ?
