just finished skimming a news article about John Piper's son....he's got quite the online following, as an EXvangelical. get it? yeah...clever, huh?
I don't know what to make of this, honestly. I am a Christian, but I never fit in church, and I've definitely come to reject a lot of what was drilled into me with old school Pentecostals, SBC, and even (gasp) the Calvinists. I mean...I read Scripture, I'm beginning to love Jesus more and more, and...???
but that's...blah blah blah, more of my personal journey or whatever. I think these EXvangelicals are another sign of growing secularization, the fading of religious affiliation and belief. good? bad? I mean, if being an evangelical somehow kept someone from ending up as a skid row junkie or a mass murderer, then...not so good for this to be disappearing, right? but if rejecting the evangelical world just means...get on with life, forget the pot lucks, sermons, fake friends, and hypocrisy...
well, good thing, right? I dunno. what do y'all think?
