Well, thankfully for us (or at least in the state of Ohio) winter is nearly over and spring is almost here!! :woot For me that only means one thing,.. (besides Easter which is the most important thing at all because of its significance) fairy garden season!! You see around here as much I we would like to we can't really plant a real garden, otherwise it would be gobbled up by the hungry deer. :lol So my mom and I make these tiny miniature gardens and make sure to have a steel metal fence up with it so that the deer can't get into it. Anyway, this is basically what it looks like;

Of course ours is a lot different and every year we change ours up a bit. Sometimes we get new collectables from fairy garden shops, but right now we have so many figurines that we have saved up over the years and our local fairy garden shop shut its doors a few years ago. Anyway, I was just wondering, are there any other people (or gardeners) on here that do this?

If you plant Peppermint around your garden the deer will not get in it. They say Marigolds also work as you make a boarder out of them. The deer don't like the smell of either one.

Wow! That's beautiful! I didn't realize that they didn't like the smell of peppermint or Marigolds. That is very interesting, I still love making my fairy gardens though. :) Oh and I just finished eating dinner and telling my mom about it and we were both in agreement that if those darn deer got hungry enough all our beautiful flowers would be gone. We even had an incident that had to do with tomato plants lol but you really are an excellent gardner though.

All I do is trim everything once a year. I have one flower bed with Tulips in the spring, then the Iris and later Gladiolas, but the mini Iris's have taken over and are crowding out everything else and need to thin them out. Hubby wants a veg garden, but I'm not into canning.

Here, I found out how to resize photos so here is a picture of my actual fairy garden. I can't believe it took me so long to figure out! It's so easy to do now lol! :lol
