It's become very apparent that everyone has faith naturally and they must put their faith into something, otherwise one will suffer despair. I know this because when I left Christianity for 2-3 years I was in deep despair. This seems to happen when I didn't put my faith into something, and if I continued that way I would risk serious psychological damage or even suicide.

It seems nature has given us all a natural faith, that we have to exercise or risk permanent damage to ourselves.

I believe faith is very natural, its when our faith contends with our ego that we try to undermine it and find ourselves in a dark place.

The cruise ship you are on is sinking. Some people have faith in the blue life boats... some have faith in the red life boats...........

Does this remind you of a movie, and two different colored pills?

Yes, both people can feel fine about their choices. But would you keep asking about the other colored boats (pills) if you were confident in the one you had chosen?

Ya know, I don't think I have ever been to an Atheist's Forum. Want to guess why?

Matthew 18:3 And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

We are born with wonder. The world takes our faith away.

Your like the forumnator today Willie.

I'll be back!

The red boat and the blue one, is the red and blue pill in the matrix movie.

And I know why I'm here Willie but that's personal.

I disagree there, it forces you to put it into something.

PoP, you are nowhere near being unique in looking in all the wrong places. Many of us did that. Many came to God, and many of us turned our backs on Him for, sometimes, decades. (Possibly more time than you have even lived on this Earth)

But, eventually, you have to stop flitting from idea to idea, and deeply and seriously conclusively settle some issues. Those points begin with VERY basic decisions that you have to have put enough thought into to decide either one way, or another about...... AND be firm enough to place each one of those decisions (each in its turn) beneath your feet to stand on, and to begin building a foundation upon...... Or else you will never have anything but shifting sands under your feet, and will always lack real confidence in who and what you believe and follow.

"Nature" is impersonal and amorphous, and deflects us from the One who created all things. If you replace that word with "God" everything falls into place. God has given human beings a hunger for Himself (a void within the soul), but that hunger can only be satisfied with Christ (the Bread of Life). And the Lord must also become Lord of our lives in order to avoid permanent damage to ourselves. Faith is simply believing (a) that God IS, and (b) that He is a rewarded of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).

k. Don't really understand all that.

Your statement is true, across the spectrum, until you get to this point. If the highlighted word translates into God, with a capital G, this also is true but to the general public this means evolution.

Can I ask a non OP related question, why does every thread I create end up having everyone trying to convince me of God, Jesus or the bible. You even do it to each other, I certainly don't feel welcome when some of you carry on that way.

Can you explain that more th1b

It's simple. Get out a sheet of paper, and jot down as many of the world's most basic and elementary philosophical, intellectual, and religious questions as come to mind.
Now, give your own answers to those questions.

Any of those answers real to you, or just what you think you are supposed to think or believe? Are there any of them you can say are ABSOLUTE facts that you feel you want to incorporate in your life? That you KNOW are true?

Do not believe in or follow God for any other reason than that YOU feel it is the right way to go. That's all a "religion" should be.

Because my experience with therapy has shown me that the first things people bring up are seldom REALLY what is actually on their minds.

Are you saying I should be feeling my way to know God?

In one sentence?

Jesus says

John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
