Bible Study Family Saved – Individuals Damned!

Family Saved – Individuals Damned!

In today's sinful society many people see direct parallels to the stories in the bible that roused God's judgment, specifically the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, and Noah's Ark. In both of these stories the main element that people concentrate on is God's judgment. The larger point that goes unnoticed is that in each story God saved families, not just individuals. God found righteousness in both Lot and Noah AND their family!

I've gone to many churches and in each case all I'd see are single mothers and divorced individuals, BUT no whole families where a father and mother are present! In many cases these detached individuals were crying out to god for relief from the burdens of life. But in the stories were God provided PROTECTION and WARNING from his judgments against man's sin he found favor only with those who had whole families, both mother and father!

If there's a greater lesson to learn from all of God's judgments it is that God finds favor with those who hold their family together against all of the sinful and selfish forces that are trying to pull it apart. If we want God's protection in this day and age of increasing sin in society then work very hard to hold together your family! God shuns those who seek a life of individuality rather than building a family where both a mother and father are present. The family is the safety net that will harken God to our suffering and bring relief!

God Bless

note:

It should be noted that when God brought judgment upon mankind he did so because their sin eradicated the family from society. With Sodom and Gomorrah and Noah's Ark both societies were so sinful that only the righteous still maintained a 'true' family. Also notice that in Noah's time there was a lot of marrying but no families, just like it is in today's society! Our sinful society today clamors for ever more marriage but with no intention of ever maintaining a family. The disappearance of a 'true' biblical God fearing family from our society WILL eventually provoke God's judgment as in the days of Noah.......... but this time it will be the rapture!

Matthew 24:37-44
New International Version (NIV)
37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark;39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

The bible tells us if just one parent in the household is a Christian believer God will extend grace throughout the entire household. There are many households out of order in this world. So we must focus on the promise, not the problem. God is amazing...the blood of Jesus has done it all!

That's not equivalent to salvation. That simply means that the believing spouse will have influence over others in the home and may be able, by example and ministry, to lead others to Christ. It does not mean others are saved by the grace God gave the believer.

This really is a debate about one of the beliefs promoted under Calvinism. Though, there is a misunderstanding here. This is what is considered Covenant Succession, but it speaks to the salvation of those within the household of a believer who are not, yet, of the age they can make the decision themselves. This means that should a child, let's say a 1 year-old, dies and they have a parent who is a believer, then the child will be saved. This doctrine does not suggest that the spouse of a believer will be saved, since they are of an age where they are able to make the decision to follow Christ or not. This is kind of an over-simplification, but that is the gist.

the lone(ly) people will not be judged(punished) only because are lone(ly), here is for example the parable of Lazarus:

Luke 16:19-22 "There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom:"
