I typed in 'fastest growing church movement' and got...
http://www.mun.ca/rels/restmov/who.html
I also typed it in a little different and pulled up something else on 'restoration movement christian church'...but I can't find it.

The mun.ca is a sort of "official" website for the RM, but not really because there can't be any "official" website because we have no denominational headquarters. :)

You can also click on your "history" button at the top of your browswer and look back through your "today" folder and get the other article. :)

Nope, I still can't find it...it was only a small part in one of the articles I scanned but not a website
Type in church growth movement, largest growing denomination..something like that, and see if you see it. I'm telling ya it's in there somewhere!!...instead of restoration church, it's church's

wow, I've never even heard of denomination before

It isn't a denomination. :)

It is a group of independant churches.

It was in an article that mentioned a 'clinton' church...It wasn't at the forefront of the article but midway somewhere.

Former U. S. President James A. Garfield was a member of a RM church. Here is a quote from him:

James A. Garfield, former president of the United States, is one of the best-known individuals associated with Christian churches/churches of Christ. He even served as a “lay preacher.†To answer the many questions he received about the group of believers with whom he worshiped, he wrote a classic statement:

1. We call ourselves Christians, or Disciples of Christ.
2. We believe in God the Father.
3. We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and our Savior. We regard the divinity of Christ as the fundamental truth of the Christian system.
4. We believe in the Holy Spirit, both as to his agency in conversion and as indwelling in the heart of the Christian.
5. We accept both the Old and the New Testament Scriptures as the inspired Word of God.
6. We believe in the future punishment of the wicked and the future reward of the righteous.
7. We believe that the deity is a prayerhearing and a prayer-answering God.
8. We observe the institution of the Lord’s Supper on the Lord’s Day. To this table we neither invite nor debar; we say it is the Lord’s Supper for all of the Lord’s children.
9. We plead for the union of God’s people on the Bible and the Bible alone.
10. The Christ is our only creed.
11. We maintain that all the ordinances should be observed as they were in the days of the apostles.

Isn't this different from United Church Of Christ?

Yes, very different.

UCOC is one of those "exclusive" churches. They welcome homosexual behavior in their congregations.

It isn't SDA's because they are exclusive. The only reason I put in the exclusive exclusion (say that 10 times fast!) was because the Mormon's have a greater number of people joining than this particular group.

First of all, SDAs are a Christian Protestant organization.

Second, right from the Mormon headquarters it has been recently said that the SDA church is growing much faster than the Mormons.

Thirdly, this same information said that it is the SDA church that is the fastest growing church world wide.

YAY for Adventists!!! :D

Is the SDA Church really considered by other denominations to be 'exclusive'?

Bonsai,
When you say UCOC welcomes homosexual behavor in their congregations.
Do you mean they allow for holding of hands in church , kissing ect. ? Or do you mean that they just allow homosexuals to come to their churches without asking or telling them homosexuality must be repented of.

Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.

There's a difference between "fastest growing" in terms of percent of the denomination and percent of the population.

The "Church of Christ" moving really isn't growing so much as it is consolidating with other Christian churches.

It is a false unity.

Did you not see the commercials on TV recently?

They accept homosexuality as ok. They had a gay couple on their commercial.

According to thislink, they won't allow you to discuss it on their official forum.

The reason being because they promote and accept homosexual behavior.

Would this fastest growing church be considered to be 'charismatic' in its culture? I don't know, I'm just asking. Are they big on promoting an infilling of the Holy Spirit? I'm considering the reason/s why a denomination in and of itself would have any bearing on whether or not people desire to turn to Jesus. Isn't this 'a heart' thing? In other words, WHAT is the main appeal behind this fastest growing church?

Bonsai,

Nope I must have missed that commercial, I don't watch alot of TV. We have a homosexual who came to our church , but she has changed and given herself to the Lord. Im glad our church let her in the door or she would still be lost in sin. I guess if you don't let sinners into a church , churches would be empty. This church you are talking about I guess dosen't read the parts in the bible about homosexuality being a sin, if they did they might save some .

Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.

It is not 'charismatic' in its culture. :)

The main appeal is that it sheds all of the unnecissary things like deep theology, denominational headquarters and other things that just weigh a church down.

There are no creeds, or divisive statements of faith or anything like that.

We don't have what most churches call "pastors" in that one person leads a church. We have ministers who fill some of the roles that a pastor would, but our churches are lead by the deacons/elders. The church congregation votes on these people and they in turn lead the church by making decisions as a whole, not just one person deciding what to do.

There are many other aspects that could be cited. :)
