I already made a topic about any special possesions, so I figured that I would do the same thing about any special memories that you have. One of my favorite memories would definitely be going to Awesome Con last year, but I also have special memories of conversationsome that I have had with my grandparents. I remember when I was a little girl that I was riding in the car with them and I asked of God had a car in Heaven, after they told me no He didn't, I asked them how He was supposed to get around without one. :lol Lol, kids can sure be cute sometimes and they are smarter than you give them credit for. My Pawpaw certainly spoiled me rotten. I also remember that one time he let me have ice cream before lunch, my grandmother found out about it, but she also used to spoil me by letting me have a whole entire bag of cookies when I spent the weekend with them so she was one to talk!

My favorite memories are the simplicity of childhood as I'm a baby boomer. We didn't have much growing up especially toys, but way back then we used our imaginations. Climbing trees and would tie two tin cans together for phones and stretch them from tree to tree as we would pretend the trees were our house. The tin cans actually worked.

Use to make guitars out of cardboard and rubber bands and pretend we were a band standing on the steps of my grandparents front porch as they lived beside us. Cardboard box houses with windows and doors. Penny candy, mercantile stores had candy cases back then. Making stilts and walking around the yard. Going down to my Grandparents house after we ate supper because they always had homemade bread and jam, yum, and also desert. American Bandstand on our front porch as my mother taught us the Jitterbug. I could go on and on, but these are a few of my favorite. Kids have no imaginations anymore, how sad for them.

I know right? That is sad. All they do now is play with their devices. If you read my signature you'll know that I'm a huge supporter of imagination. Of course since I started a fantasy topic about magic tricks and Harry Potter, you probably knew that already even though that isn't your cup of tea.

I couldn't find an actual music video, but this song is so true and so powerful. It's also perfect for the thread since it goes back to my childhood. I loved Full House and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen when I was a kid and I still love it now, it's just sad to see what the Olsen twins have become. Or at least Mary-Kate. If you read my post "This is an Outrage!" in Hot Topics you will find out why.

And since we are on the topic of imagination by the way, has anybody here ever had an imaginary friend? I might be in the minority on this one but I don't think that I ever did. Don't get me wrong, I loved playing pretend as a child, but not about things like that.

My favorite memory is, actually, right, out of the jaws of Hell. It was Christmas Eve, 1968, I believe and the north was reported to have put a Fifty Dollar bounty on our heads and we were losing men and officers at a rate of 3.5 men and an aircraft a month. Fifty Dollars equaled 50,000 piasters and that was better than 8 years pay to the Vietnamese that sell their daughters for a hundred dollars, I was mad at everybody.

Our Sister Company, the men of North Flag got a outstanding power amp and a voltage transform the 24v Battery current down to 12v and wired it into the ship and about 8 that night we heard Christmas Carols drifting across the top of the Jungle. For 2 hours they circled their camp playing the sweetest music I ever heard, right there in the middle of death, men fighting to remain the victor and not let the scum kill them.

You cannot really love those songs u8ntil you have lost so many of your men that you can't recall them.
