That old pharmacy lent itself to be like that ,plenty of black and white photos of it exist. The view i posted is based on one. That's probably in a new book written about taintee,and the pioneers of okeechobee and Kissimmee areas.

Striking vista, and your depth of field was good enough to get sharp detail in the foreground weeds, while keeping the distant peak in focus. It's a fine image.

A nitpick: If you moved a bit right or left, the rock ridge in the foreground would not be lined up with the peak. This would make it look more interesting.

The "rule of thirds" applies here. If you imagine tic-tac-toe lines on your image, one or more of the intersections of lines are where your important subjects should be.

It's actually more of a guideline than a rule. Sometimes it works better to break rules. But it's useful to try. Often, that's the best way. As I said, it's still a fine image.

I'm not a photographer but Saturday morning, using my cell phone, I captured this shot of our old grainery just as the sun was breaking over the horizon. With the 6" of new snow we got on Friday, I thought it looked rather nice.

If you zoom in, you can see the tail end of my truck parked with its nose in the lean-to. That snow drift got plenty deep there and extends about 20' to the other side of the truck.

Snow is about waste high on my throughout the lawn. Going to be a little sloppy when this starts to thaw.

I worked in a lady's house and she had this picture on her wall. As I walked in and out to the truck a few times I always looked at it on my way by it...it draws you in, it's a good picture. I complimented the lady on it and asked what is it's title and artist?

She couldn't remember. Only that she had got it as a print in Finland years ago when she visited her friend there and they went to the museum. So I asked if I could take a picture of it, and of course she said yes, and when she talks again to her friend that she is going to ask her the name of it and artist. I googled it and it was painted in 1883 by a Finnish artist named Albert Edelfelt and is titled, The Parisienne (Virginie)...(the French girl?). I like it and from what I can tell from all the google hits, this picture is viral online, lol. Little wonder why, lol.

If you cropped out the porch railing, and made it a landscape format, it would make a wonderful Christmas card.

Thanks for the suggestion. My wife has already been tossing the Christmas card idea around for next year.

When we lived in Colorado and the kids were young, we went to the Royal Gorge area one day and Voila"! there were deer everywhere. We started feeding them potato chips, lol. Until someone told us that they sell bags of food pellets in the general store there to feed them with. So we bought a few bags and go a boat load of good pictures of the kids and us feeding the deer by hand. After we got them developed and seen howe many good ones there were, someone thought of having Christmas cards made from one or two...

So we did, and they came out great! My family back in Ohio didn't believe it and accused us of doctoring the pictures. This was before photoshop even. I would love to post a few of these, but none are on my computer. I would have to dig out the picture boxes and go through them and find them. Then snap a picture of the pictures and post them...

Maybe this weekend!

That's harder than it looks. You have put the picture between two panes of glass to flatten it, and then make sure the camera is exactly perpendicular to the plane of the picture. You focus on the grain of the picture, not the image itself.
