Fears

Why do we have fears? I have normal fears like being afraid of heights but I'm also afraid of wheat, flies, butterflies, dogs, etc. :dunno What's going on?

We're here to conquer our fears... one by one by one.

How do we conquer our fears? By putting our complete faith in the loving grace of our Lord. By praying for His amazing grace and trusting He will help us move beyond those fears, we can appreciate & maybe even enjoy the things we used to fear.

The vulnerability of our nature gives us fear. If we were immortal, these fears would be all but gone. You wouldn't have to work for the rest of your life, worry about disease, physical harm, etc..

Wheat? :confused You mean, like in a field, or wheat bread? That's gotta be a first! :lol

I think all normal, rational people have fears to some degree. It's self-preservation, to have a healthy fear of things that threaten life. Like, if a grizzly bear is coming at you, it's normal to be afraid. I have a fear of heights...well, not so much of being up high, but of falling from high places. Being up in a tall building doesn't bother me...being out on the ledge on a tall building gives me the willies!

If our fears keep us from living our lives as we should, then they are unhealthy...and need to be resolved.

Haha :lol I know. I'm absolutely fine with wheat bread, but if I see it in a field, I'll go crazy. Also, I never thought of fears that way. Looks like I need to conquer my fear of wheat :shame

I used to be afraid of blank computer screens. Not blank as in "the computer's not on". I was fine with that. But blank as in "holy crap, something's wrong with my computer!" Even DOS made me nervous. Basically, anything other than a normal Windows-eqsue (sp?) display scared me.

Yes, verses such as John 14.1 and John 14.27 are very precious for the believer.

Blessings.

Just make sure that if you Face Everything And Rise, you are doing so with Christ.

We all have areas we lack in and that is only because we have in our flesh a lack of faith when it comes to various fears. I have a fear of the dark as being outside in it all alone. I live back in the woods where the bear, bobcat, coyote's and wolves are out there, but usually never come around the house, well the occasional bear once in a while. I am getting better with this and I know God would not let an animal attack me, but I guess it's just the element of the unknown of what is making that noise that races me back inside the house.

This is very reassuring :) It feels great to know that you aren't alone in a situation. I'm so curious about people and the way the body works :crazy I hope I don't sound like a stalker.
