A shortened version:
I came back to Christ about 10 years ago. Rick Warren's book was a prime motivator. But, since then, I've been searching for a church that offers the fellowship I feel that "comes with the package." It hasn't come. Am I expecting too much from fellow Christians?

Gday Gene how's it going. Can you describe the fellowship you're looking for ?

You are always welcome to stop by our church here in the valley. We're located in central Minnesota. Easy to get to, hard to leave. :lol

Look for a church with biblical small groups (Acts 2:42). Disciples are made in biblical community...

You need to find a good word Church that will nourish you in the word of God and as you search the Holy Spirit will let you know if it's the right one where you need to be.

yes, you're expecting too much.
no, you're not expecting too much once you find true christians. (a very rare find and it requires your life be fully, completely devoted to ABBA the Creator by faith in Jesus Christ, through grace in Him according to all of His Word). Or, as Yhwh is pleased.

I wasn't fully devoted to God when I 'found' Him -- or rather He entreated me .... there were people in my view who were different - they were joyful, happy Christians who lived every day talking with, and about, and to, JESUS,
AND
they lived their lives to please God. Every day.
That is what I saw, and that developed in me a hunger (as Jesus was lifted up in their lives, I was more and more hungry for Him), and I realized the emptiness in my life as He granted me grace,
and He granted me the surpassing grace of the knowledge(experience, real, lived) of salvation - to be becoming immersed in Yeshua, to enter into His Life to Live His Way according to His Word.
