curious how many have ever participated in a foot washing service at church. NO CARNAL REMARKS . this is a serious subject that is 1.over looked and misunderstood john 13 The Meaning of Footwashing
12 When Jesus had washed their feet and put on His robe, He reclined again and said to them, “Do you know what I have done for you? 13 You call Me Teacher and Lord. This is well said, for I am. 14 So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I have given you an example that you also should do just as I have done for you.

Where are the continuing examples of foot washing in the Bible?

I have been a member of several churches who have had these services.

Never have participated and likely never will.

I got some really ugly feet. There are scars, toenail issues, calluses, and veins that just make most people want to puke.
Never mind the missing portions.

I just can't do it from sheer embarrasment.

My hands are in only slightly better shape except for the open wounds. I'm a construction worker.

Jesus girded him self with a towel a servants badge , i just asked if any had ever participated in a foot washing service. if your one who does not believe in it. then no one will ever ask or force you to do so.

...whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve... Matthew 20:26b-28a NIV

.
Dear Brother ezra, I'll just paste thoughts I previously posted somewhere I hope will give you another look at what was being said.
Here we are talking of beautiful feet (Rom10:15), and must think of the feet as pertaining to walking.
Hopefully I can point your thinking to our feet being cleaned associated with our walk in Christ.

John 13:5 After that He (Jesus) poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
John 13:8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
John 13:9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
John 13:10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all (Talking of Judas). They were all saved except Judas, but their walk needed cleaned.

What is being talked about here?
Ephesians 5:26 That He (Jesus) might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.
Ephesians 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; (Again the word) Even our armor is dependent upon the word. Our walk or feet shod with the word makes our walk beautiful.

Hopefully I can point your thinking to our feet being cleaned associated with our walk in Christ.
you can interpret it that way . but in john Jesus gives a example .its strictly symbolic . some do do it some don,t main thing i dont understand is how folks can take this subject and get bent all out of shape... its all most like they are completely carnal please note i am not saying your wrong because it can be interpreted that way. i have experienced some sweet spirit foot washing's. some well was rather dry

I didn't say any of the stuff you went on with. I simply wanted to know how to find the other foot washings in the Bible.

Many moons ago, my family belonged to a church that did do foot washing for the exact reasons you stated. I remember my father telling me how serious it was and how humbling the service was. He also said how they were all moved by the Spirit and had a wonderful time communing with God. I, myself, have never been a part of one.

I understand completely about being willing and able and ready to be another person's servant. Especially willing to go do those jobs and tasks that are deemed "low class". Hey, I'm a blue collar worker to begin with. I'm not above doing anything no matter what status I am in...which is usually low class.

And the purpose of the original message which Jesus made was one about servant leadership. It's way too easy to get caught up in our own success and be " above " being a servant leader. IOW we need to be aware of the problems facing those we lead and where we don't compromise our principals we do need to address the issues of those we lead.

I follow Yeshua's example and partake in the foot washing ceremony every year on the day Yeshua died (Abib 14).
