If you commit a wrong against someone (ex. telling a lie) but they have no idea that what you told them was a lie and you have repented to God and asked God for his forgiveness...is there a need to confess to that person that you lied to them? are you forgiven by God if you dont confess to that person?

James 5:16 says, "Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much."

That's generally my view on asking forgiveness of others to whom I have lied (either intentionally or unintentionally), or in any other way with whom I feel convicted about my actions.
