Fornication VS Adultery. So what's the major difference between the two since both have to do with sex (probably).

If a single lies with another single...what is the act called? If a married man lies with another married woman from another family ...what is the act called? And if a single lies with a married man/woman...what is this called? Finally, if a divorced woman lies with a single or a married man...what is this called??? Thanks.

Hi Classic,

If a person looks at another with lust, they comitt adultery in two ways if they are married. The first is what we would discern right away. No one should be looking at another women when they are married. The second way is not only a violation of the seventh Commandment, but a violation of the first, second, fourth, fifth eighth, and tenth Commandments. Idolatry I think would be considered spiritual adultery. So, whether you're single or married, when you look upon another that is not your wife with lust, you commit adultery.

Fornication is a broad term which includes adultery and everything that is sexually immoral.
Adultery is a specific term when the woman is married.

No, Christ was speaking to all but the woman in the verse is married because He is mentioning it as adultery.
