Please hold in your prayers my long time friend, an assistant clergy at the Abyssinian Baptist Church, who is a member of our congregation. He has suffered two fairly serious strokes in the last two years and is now recovered enough so that he feels confident of preaching in our worship service this Sunday. I will be his liturgist (we have always supported each other as liturgist when the other is preaching) and have told him if he feels it necessary, I will take over whatever role he wants of me.

He is a powerful speaker when he's healthy. I pray he can return to his full strength. In any event, he is speaking among friends and will get great support from us.

.
Prayers going forth for the word to be preached in truth and fruitfulness in Jesus' name. Father, please lift this dear friend in health to preach the message You want to go to the congregation, and let Your glory be known throughout them. Amen.

The Lord is able. We need strong preachers.
The Church awaits God's Word.
He is in our prayers.

Thank you for your prayers. Everything went well for my friend today, he gave a good sermon on Melchizedek. Not as strong as he usually is, but was inspirational.

Added bonus: we had a visitor and her son join us for worship. I didn't recognize her at first, but, after the service she introduced herself with a "you probably don't remember me, but..." kind of introduction. I've known her for almost 30 years. I feel embarrassed when that happens, but we had a great time remembering earlier days.
