Whatever my son does whether it is good or bad, he is carrying my name with him, and his actions will reflect on me. If he misbehaves, I am held responsible because I am the one in charge of teaching him how to behave. If he acts in an honorable manner, I get credit for that as well. He does not have to wear a sign around his neck saying "my mom taught me XYZ and my mom is Mrs. __" He does not have to ever mention my name but it does not change the fact that he can not disconnect himself from me, and I can not disconnect myself from him. The same is true with Christians. Even outside the church, we are carrying God's name, but when we walk up to a stranger's house, ring their door bell and let them know specifically that we are with a church, we are connecting ourselves with God's name. Perhaps this is the problem. People have become too casual in their association with God that they don't fully realize that everything we say or do reflects back on our God. Being a Christian carries all the marvelous glories and promises in the Bible, but it also carries a huge responsibility that we need to take very seriously. Let the youth have fun events, but lets guard God's name in the process.
