Hey, just a quick gaming question to see if something sounds odd or not. I have a strong conviction agaisnt playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but I do not have any problem playing games like Uncharted 2 or Killzone. I guess I feel guilty of MW2 because of the Airport level. Does this sound like a bizarre conviction to you guys?

Not bizarre. Contradictory, perhaps...

You can skip that part of MW2 if you wish.

Ditto, you can skip it if you wish and still get the full game experience, achievements and all. I can understand if the content is offensive. However, the story Inifinity Ward had to tell includes this moment which without it would crumble around itself since it is the pivotal point at which war breaks our worldwide.

Personally, If I was concerned, I would just skip it. The game rocks the house. Excellent story, MP and overall one of the best FPS games I have ever played.

My convictions probably feel a little contradictory. Or maybe I'm too concerned about that one level. Personally though, I think I'll just skip because I did find one of the kills rather offensive, when I saw a man crawling on the ground get beat. Just my opinion.

as a vet i seldom play those games, well a good example as do why i usually dont.
a ten yrd grandson of mine played gears of war and i played,in one are there was the use of the trusty the 30mm chain gun. i slipped a little and told him what they do to person as i have seen the recorded videosie the hercules gun ship and the apache hiting people with that weapon. i do think these are too violent for some, and it between you and the lord, i wont oblige any more.

That's when it get's over the top. I don't think violence in a video game is bad, it's when it's glorified when it's the problem. What I mean by that is when they just poor in gore and blood when it's not even necessary. It's not just games that do this too. I pretty much grossed out after I saw Saw V. I do not want to watch anymore saw movies anymore.

True. I am in no mindset to see any Saw movie, and I've heard that Gears of War is extremely violent Not worth it IMO.
But CoD is awesome! :biggrin

being a vet, and i have found the each vet must learn to deal with the return home and to normalcy, but living around death all the time, will cause all some issues. some hate the dark, others guns, fireworks that's biggie, took me two yrs to able to sleep during all those firecrackers and others. some vets are never able to recover from that.

i hate horror and extreme violence and the like. as i was hardened to death and its easy for me to get into those morbid discussions without thinking about it.

You know what a wise man called horror movies? He called them "bent" stories because they turn morality on its head, depicting evil as good. Other genres that fall into this category are pornography, both of which I insist that you avoid.

How do horror movies depict evil is good?

I think he may be getting at that the serial killers are sometimes glorified in the movies. I don't think this necesarily shows evil as good though. In most horror movies I've seen, it's always the good guys who have to fight for their lives. I never remember seeing Jason as a good guy, except before he turned into a killer.

I think what azlan 88 means is that horror movies never end with good being victorious. Evil is the winner in all cases, whether it is the monsters or the serial killer. Good stories, on the other hand, may have a righteous person die, but it ends with either justice being served and things being made right, or with the promise of justice (ie. the recognition that God will judge).

Good observation, Izzy. A psychiatrist also said on the news that less stable persons see characters suchy as the "Saw" torturer as heroes. Maybe people make horror movies because these characters are their heroes as well.
