Gandhi Gandhi gandhi

But think about this. If your faith is forcing you to see those outside it, as imposters, unable to gain redemption, unable to do God's work, disqualified from His family, then you are separating Christians into a special group, who God only smiles upon.
Aren't we all children of God? All worthy of his favour?

no,one is worthy of His favor even John who wrote revelation fell on his face at the vision of Christ as though dead

the token " none of us are worthy" post. When in reality Christians feel so much pride.

I was hoping this be a thread about Gandhi and his awesome life. A child of God who surely deserves our respect and admiration.

I,didn't post that in,the manner you prescribe and responded to your statement that a sinner is a child of God.
r
for we have not received the power of fear but the spirit of adoption whereby we cry Abba,Father.

no,need to adopt if one already is a child of yours

When his followers started protesting with violence, Gandhi went on a fast. They finally stopped.
Heres a lesson for Black Lives Matter or any other protest group. If anyone starts to use violence, go on a symbolic fast. The leaders could do this. Just to reinforce non violence. This gains long term respect. Don't use violent language either. Become a group that reaches the benchmark of Gandhi and Martin Luther King.

I am currently rediscovering this spiritual giant. Just a shame we can't claim him as a Christian hero . If I were 1% of this guy's moral fibre I would be happy.
I am going to dedicate this thread to him with quotes and thoughts. He was a believer you know. But not strictly in the God of Israel. Does that make him a non believer in your view?

Yes it does! Just because a dog looks and acts like a cat, does not make it a cat!
It's a copy cat! ?

The bottom line is, all false religions rely on their own ability to do righteous things and earn favor with God. Christianity is distinct from all of these in that it relies on God's forgiveness and the wiping away of sin guilt in order to be in favor with God. There's really no reason to look any further than this point when examining the validity of other religions.

That is why Christianity is the only religion that is different from all other religions, because favor with God or the "supreme being" is not based on works alone.

But as most religions and the individuals in those religions believe in good works like helping others, having compassion, forgiveness, and so on including Christianity, and live a peaceful life I can respect that. As long as people don't interfere with my life and try force there will and world view on me.

He was not a spiritual child of God.
He deserves no more respect and admiration from us than any other Christian hating person.

Gandhi was broad-minded enough to admit that those Catholics who used Mary as an intercessor, were indirectly glorifying God. I can't help but admire a Hindu like Gandhi saying that. Since that is one of the chief criticisms from Protestant Christians.

This alone makes it abundantly clear that he was in no way shape or form a believer.
If he was a believer he would love the church.

"...everyone who loves the father loves his child as well." - 1 John 5:1

Given the way many Christians behave I can easily understand how people do not love what they see as the 'church'.

There is also the ongoing dispute, what is the church?
An organisation, a structure or a body of people?

Gandhi was partly inspired by Tolstoy. And his book "The kingdom of God is Within". Tolstoy was the first one to develop the idea of non violent resistance.

depends on which hindu you ask .not well like in India .

he also said to the britts and europa to surrender and allow the germans and the japs to take what they will and also the Jews to commit mass suicide rather then fight. like the appeaser would actually work against Hitler. that is why chamberlain was replaced by churchill. while the war didnt save all the jews. it did however, stop hitler and the others. the debate whether we should or shouldnt have allied with russia is for another thread.

the idea that is appalling to me a jew whose relative was captured after being shot down and escaped to france and wrote a book about his expercience and to the day he died he went to schools to talk about his time in war.

he also wasnt a pacifist prior to ww2, he supported the boer war, fought in it, and also ww1 and encouraged indians to enlist to help the crown.

Sounds like you are dismissing completely other religions. Even the Catholic Church admits other religions hold some truth. There is enough disagreement between Christians , as to what actually constitutes "the truth", anyway.
I totally dismiss other religions.
John 14:16

What do you mean by other religions. I think this would be an important question to answer.

I hate repeating this...a minister said it, I hated it, but it is true....

Theres a lot of good people in Hell.

Well, he mentioned other religions, and other religions go against who Jesus Christ is, so I don’t include other beliefs that are outside of scripture.

Fighting broke out between Muslims and Hindus just before Pakistani independence. A Hindu asks to see Gandhi:
"I'm going to Hell. I killed a Muslim child after Muslims killed my own child."
Gandhi replies;. " Adopt a Muslim child and raise him as your own. But make sure you allow him to follow the Muslim faith."
