Gay & Lesbian Forum?

1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife. 2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you. 3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed, 4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. 6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: 8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: 10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. 11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? 13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
1 Corinthians 5:1-13

Note that Paul proclaims the Word of God to the believers at Corinth not to keep company with fornicators, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters, railers, or drunkards who proclaim to be brothers in Christ, and they are to be put away from among the believers as he/she is a wicked person. However, he makes note that it is not possible to altogether keep from those of the world who are mixed up with these sins; only those who called a brother. This is not that difficult of a Scripture to understand, but is constantly twisted by those of a devilish mindset.

I agree Solo, it is not difficult to understand.

Paul is teaching that we should avoid the believer that uses the teachings of Christ to justify sinful behavior.

I have noet advocated sinful behavior.

Does God's word teach in 1 Corinthians 5 that believers are not to keep company with a believer that continues in the sin of Homosexuality? And are we to judge those who are within the body of Christ?

PS. I did not see within this Scripture the part that states "that we should avoid the believer that uses the teachings of Christ to justify sinful behavior." I read that believers are to not eat or keep company with those who claim to be a believer while continuing in the sins of fornication, coveting, idolatry, railing, drunkedness, or extortion.

May God bless you and keep you in the truth of His word.

I believe I have answered this very question in another post of your that refers to this passage. We are to correct those that are within the Body of Christ if they are promoting or teaching the continuation of sin.

I believe I have also asked if there are any sinners in your church? Do you keep company with them? Paul is specific that we are not to keep company with those who are believers AND who teaches it is okay to continue in sin.

In context of this thread - noone has suggested to do otherwise.

Forgive me, but I do not see where there is a disagreement between our two statements. If someone were to be a believer and continued in sin, they woudl need to justify their sinful behavior in some way.

May God bless you and keep you in the truth of His word.

Ditto, and may I ask if you are okay - I have not seen you posting as much as usual. Is all well?

alonevoice,
It seems that we are in agreement with this Scripture. Thanks for the post. I have been out of town during spring break and am otherwise in great shape. Thanks for asking.

God bless.

That is great adivce, let's help this brother by directing him to the correct forum that already exists - and hopefully it will work and be a blessing in this brothers life.

or, perhaps just be a 'realist' and not help - because it just not worth fighting for! - maybe it's just 'not practical' to help.

Gee. I wonder which one a Christian should follow?
Well, if you were a little more attentive, instead of consistantly going on the attack, YOU would have noticed we did have a Christian Talk and Advice & Prayer and Praise Forums... and would have guided the member there yourself. :-?

Plus, all your firing back distracts form the OP, so lets continue to address the OP's topic.

Peacesearch, feel free to use the Forums Potluck posted on the previous page.

Peace and God bless,
Vic

You are correct Vic - I should have pointed him to one of those forums. But I tried to go to his aide because of the attack he received as a response to his suggestion.

Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be decieved: Neither the sexually immoral ...nor homosexual offenders...will inherit the kingdom of God.
And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the spirit of our God.

I Corinthians 6:9-11 (NIV)

For those of you here who believe that homosexuals are beyond reach, can't be saved, or have no place in the church please read carefully verse 11. I love you all in Christ.

You are right. ANYONE can be saved.

I have an uncle that was a drug addict his entire life. I had so much hatred towards him and I always believed that he would NEVER give up drugs. He has now been clean for 3 years. There is always hope and you will be in my prayers. It's so hard to give up a lifestyle that you were once used to. I used to be quite the party girl. It was very hard to give up that lifestyle, but now that I have, I have no desire to go back.

(((hugs)))

Fair enough. :) I wasn't online this weekend or else I would have posted sooner, much like this:

We have forums already in place to discuss areas of personal support/help/advice for anything that people find they may need. There are christian only forums available to discuss sensitive matters for and with other believers.
While some struggle with one thing others struggle with another. The fight against temptation is wide and varied. Addictions to pornography, alcohol, drugs or any one specific subject of conflict with one's walk with Christ are not broken down into individual forums to address each type of problem one is struggling with.

Prayer Requests & Praises
Christian Talk & Advice
Ministries/Outreach Discussion

Christian Talk & Advice is a great place to start. I just don't see the need for one specific forum centered on one specific problem when there are other forums already in place to handle these situations.
That's a great place to start, considering it's a Christian Only Forum. Good job Rick.

Hey Nikki... have you gotten past the itchy head yet? ;-)

I'm serious! It's probably 1/2 inch already! Yesterday was the first day that I went without anything on my head at work. Patients kept commenting on my new "haircut".

I'm going to miss how easy it is to get ready in the mornings when it grows out more.

Oh...and it's DARK! It's a medium brown with some strawberry blonde natural highlights coming in. :D
