Bible Study Genesis 1:1-2 What does it mean?

It pretty much means what it says as God is Alpha and Omega, meaning has no beginning and no end like humans do.

Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

All God has to do is speak the words bringing everything into existence. It's by faith that we believe that He is who He says He is and the wonder of all He created in the beginning.

God created Time, Space, Energy and Matter.
He organised the enegy and matter to form planets, stars and life.
In Genesis we see that a formless planet/ a mass of material and water is organised into a planet with dry land and a sea.
Genesis is an accurate yet poetic discription of the process of creation.

Genesis 1:1-2

King James Version

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Hi siddhi koli

The first verse is a general statement telling us that there was a beginning to this realm in which we live and that God created all that is in this realm. All that is in the heavens above and all that is in and on the earth. This is the same statement that God makes in the law regarding the Sabbath. "For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them,..."

Beginning with verse 2, God tells us the order in which some of the various major parts of this realm of His creating were completed.

So you have a general statement that says that God created all that is in this realm. Then you have the list of order as to the chronology of His making each major part of this realm. That list continues from Genesis 1:2 to 1:31.

God bless,
Ted
