Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.”

Didn't GOD regard or consider Ishmael as Abraham's son?

My only conclusion is, we can't make human's choice God's choice.

Nope. That was the child from the SLAVE woman. Meaning the child was born into slavery and wasn't a full heir.

It was considered to be a class above a regular slave and likely would be a slave leadership person but still not a union of freedom.

This typology was later played out as the Nation Israel vx the Ecclesia.

The Ecclesia are full sons and Israel was the slave.

When reading about Abraham when he went to offer Isaac on the altar. I was consumed by the teaching of the letter to the Romans, when it talked about dying to self so we may live. I see Abraham dying and releasing the very thing that his self-life held so dear to him. Isaac occupied the very place in Abraham’s heart that belonged to God.
That very self-part which resulted in pride that caused Lucifer to fall. The same self-nature he fed in Adam and Eve in the garden that led to pride and desire for independence from God. We are the same; until it is put to death we will serve it and be led by it. Scripture says we can only serve one master.
It was not till that death of self that Abraham was freed to live the life God had for him. What an awesome prophetic picture God put before us, God spared Isaac but not short of the sacrificial atonement of the blood. God provided a substitute, a ram. God’s love and desire for this world and His people played out in this same way on Calvary when He offered His Son Jesus as a substitute for this world. He was perfect without blemish without sin no fault was found in Him.
It was His blood that atoned for the sins of this world it was His blood that satisfied the debt to God. It is His blood that cleanses and clothes the children of God in robes His righteousness. It is His blood that brought victory over Satan. It is His blood that causes the enemy to flee. It is by Him and through Him we are set free.

It's not about how Abraham was righteous but about not counting Ishmael as a son.

Where I may agree with what you have said its not the answer to the OP.

Thank you. I also had in mind that Adam-Eve issue.

But how about his progeny: the Ishmaelites today?

Son of promise

Begotten, I can't remember if that is in Genesis 22

Isaac was the son of the promise Ishmael was not of God he was conceived of the world and God gave him the world. The same was with Jacob and Esau God loved Jacob but God hated Esau. God gave Esau the world and let him feed of all the fruits in it (let him go his own way) on the other hand Jacob was broken by God as God shaped him through out his life...The Father only chastens those that He loves... Hebrews 12:6

I guess by "hated" you mean: not needed?

Loved less.
Brother I do not wish to argue but the word used is hate......... are you being politically correct?
Should it seem too strong for you...... maybe it was important that God get the point across

He did consider him a son, but not the son through whom the blessing would come. It is indeed a picture of God's choice of whom he has ordained that the blessing would come through, and which can not be changed.

It is a picture of THE Promised Son, Jesus Christ. No earthly effort can change what God has ordained. The only person who can receive the blessing on our behalf is Jesus Christ, the son coming from our own bodies, via the Holy Spirit through faith. All other hopes of receiving the blessing through another son born from us, the son of works, for example, are worthless.
