Genesis 22:2 quite confusing

Luk 14:26 - If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.​

It's the same word: Strong's G3404
I'm sure nobody believes Jesus demands His disciples hate so many others, rather it would make sense that they should love these others, only just less than they love Christ.
