The military has a long history of working with animals to accomplish missions.

Dogs, dolphins, bats, have all served with valor.

Landmines, IEDs, these are problems in the sand.

Geoducks dig in sand.

What say you to the Geoduck Minesweeper Brigade?

The geoduck (pronounced /??u?.i?d?k/ "gooey duck"[1]), Panopea generosa, is a species of very large saltwater clam, a marine bivalve mollusk in the family Hiatellidae.
-Wikipedia..

Sorry, had to look it up..

Wow.. Seriously?

I don't know. I believe in an all volunteer army. I don't think the geoducks would be volunteers. Listen, we don't need to give the PETA people more reasons to keep taking off their clothes.

Mike Rowe did an episode of Dirty Jobs about geoducks. Interesting creatures to be sure!
