I caused myself GERD through being bulimic and purging. I recommend peptac. It doesn't taste nice but it's not any worse than the taste of toothpaste lol.
As a natural supplement my old bulimic trick is this: get some room temperature water and add baking soda. Sip on that. It neutralises the acid it comes into contact with. If you drink it too fast though you'll burp a lot.
I also sleep with 2 pillows and I have a small teddy bear I put behind my neck when lying on my back. It helps me breathe as I have an unrelated problem with my nose (chronic non-allergic rhinitis)
