Getting rid of stuff before you die

humble soul

I intend to travel light into the next life. Gradually get rid of stuff.
You think we have an obligation to do that? So that people don't have so many things to throw away for you, after you die?

A friend of mine complained about being stuck with too many belongings of his mother's after she died.
"Filled up 3 skip bins with her stuff"he said.
I was lucky myself. As I was overseas when my parents died. Oldest brother had to wade through stuff. My sister in law, such a good woman, took charge . God bless her.

In my experience, the relatives are like scavengers and you really need to be quick to grab those items of special importance if you have any emotional attachment to them. I still have the box of hand-knitted blankets that my Oma was spending her last days under while saving every penny of electricity to hand down to her daughters.

Relatives ? I haven't spoken to any relatives in years. They live miles away.

I have to choose one of them. I know you don't like too much thrown at you :)
Throw away, I don't really mind. I am probably in the category of " needs more scripture".
But essentially I need more faith in the central message of the Gospel. I don't aspire to Bible scholarship. That's not the right road for me.

I'm the sort of guy who insists that faith comes as a result of understanding and trusting. What I really feel sorry for is the many who don't understand who would otherwise believe, and that they put up the wall against the very scripture that can help them to break through that unbelief because they have been harmed by the ignorance of bible-thumpers that use the scriptures to do harm.

Understanding and trusting. Absolutely.
Recently, I am of the view, to just keep things simple. A moderator , Tessa gets this. Avoid scholarship. The heart is all that matters . Am I too cold? Am I flexible? Am I slow to judge? Am I patient? Stop worrying. Trust your better nature, which is God, anyway

If that is not the central message of the Gospel as you see it, can you tell me what the central message of the gospel really is?
Sometimes I feel we are in unnecessary conflict. Do you sometimes make mountains out of molehills?
I do that sometimes.
