GM announces near-driverless cars

I'd never trust GM to make a car like that. Not when I have a friend who has received five recalls on a 2005 GM model and one basically informs him that it could kill him. But, after all that hooplah about how dangerous this GM defect is, they don't yet have the part to fix it. But they'll send him another letter, (if he lives), letting him know when the part is available.

When GM admits they made a model car that has a defect that can kill you the driver, I don't trust GM to have the capacity to make a car that almost drives itself.

Buy American!
Make it trustworthy and then I will.

I would not trust a driverless car either.I think I would feel out of control if a car was doing the driving for me.It would take alot of trust.

when this works and it might. all makers might go this route. do I like that idea? NO. why? well electronics can do funny things. perhaps they have a back up idk. I recall a problem with Volvo/mac trucks stalling in the middle of traffic and would run but not accelerate. the problem? the gas pedal is electronic its a potentiometer. I didn't happen much but when it did, it could have injured someone.
