Hi,

So God created humans with free will, that means to do evil and to do good.
But thing is sometimes humans choose to do horrific things and makes you wonder why doesn't God intervene ?

Some examples of horrific things humans can do:
-Pedophiles raping children, even babies
-Satanist raping their own children (ok you hear horrific stories about this)
-Sex slave trade
-Can you imagine, even in the time of Moses where God's power was manifested more (red sea splitting, fire column in the sky etc) than nowadays, God allowed the heathens to sacrifice babies to Moloch or Baal.
-Slavery of the africans
-Some people (some satanist also) torture animals for sadistic pleasures instead of killing the animal instantly first.
-People murdering people, ok is not good, but if the killing is instant the victim don't suffer much.

Well these are some I can think of, will update list when I have more.

Br,

If God intervenes, what happens to free will? God gave us free will in order for us to love Him and each other. Without free will, we are nothing more than moist robots and love would not exist.

@ The problem of Evil ' is a real problem that Christians and Atheists have to grapple with.

But it is primary a problem for atheists. How do atheists say what is ' good ' and what is ' evil ', what standard do they use that will with stand more than casual inspection?

Example, Can you say what is Good and why it is good?

The Christian can refer to the ten commandments and to how the bible sumeriss them into two:-
To Love God and to Love others.

have a read of this article that shows how evil is a major problem for atheists:- https://winteryknight.com/2024/12/2...ns-why-morality-is-impossible-for-atheists-8/

Hi,

WIP has explained succinctly why God allows us free agency. I find this analogy helpful in understanding what WIP has observed:

Imagine a wood carver who carves wood. He needs a strong, sharp carving knife and so he makes one. But such a knife is capable of penetrating and slicing flesh, as well as wood. The knife is stolen and used by the thief to murder someone. When the thief is caught and the knife is discovered, the wood carver is not blamed for the murder, though it was his knife that was used to kill. Why? Because his intention was that the knife be used to carve wood and create art. It is not his fault that such a knife is also unavoidably able to harm a human being.

In the same way, our free agency, given to us by God, is intended to enable us to love God. But such an ability to choose God freely, as love requires, must also necessarily entail the ability to reject God, to hate Him, even. And when human beings use their free agency to this end, sin and death result. But God is no more to blame for this than the wood carver is to blame for the misuse of his carving knife. God made us capable of loving Him but we use this capability to love ourselves, instead. But this choice is on us, not God.

Sometimes, though, God does intervene. Just read the Bible. It's full of interventions in human affairs by God. But He can't always be intervening to alter the consquences of every evil choice we make. If He did, He'd make our free agency an illusion. For it is precisely to enact corresponding results - consequences - that we make the choices that we do. In other words, the consequences of our choices are as important to our free agency as making the choice itself.

In the Bible. Walking in darkness is a metaphor for living in sinful lifestyle or inconsistent with God's teachings.

Jesus said, Who so ever follows me will not walk in darkness, John 8:12. Walking in the flesh is downfall for lot of people. It's in opposition to the holy Spirit. For Christian people to carry there cross daily and follow Jesus. Is dedication and total commitment.

Ephesians 1:13. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard of the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. In whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with the holy Spirit. Those who have Holy Spirit, we study Bible and plant seeds for God. Many people have Spirit of slumber. Only Jesus can germinate those seeds. Its up to Jesus if the person continues to have Spirit of slumber or gives the person holy Spirit. Those who have Holy Spirit are walking in the light.

1:18. The eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints. Those who have Holy Spirit, are guided by the Spirit and have understanding of deep wisdom of God's word. Those who have Spirit of slumber will be taught during the milliumum, revelation chapter 20.

Ephesians 2:2. Where in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to prince of the power of the air, the Spirit that now works in the children of disobedience. This connects with 2 Corinthians chapter 4. Archon in Greek means Satan. Has Dominion over the air, and Powers of darkness, spiritual world. Kemoma in Greek means - emptiness and unsubstantial character of the material world. Children of disobedience are children of the devil. These are Reprobates. They have a unclean Spirit. They want nothing to do with the holy Spirit. They hate Jesus. They are in rebellion against God.

Now we have clearer picture of why there's so much evil in the world. Reprobates have free will, and choose to the sedative of the devil.
Psalms chapter 92:7. When the wicked spring up as grass, and when all the workers of inquity do flourish, it is they that shall be destroyed for ever.
The wicked get there pay day on judgement day. They are destroyed by their own sins. They won't repent.

92:12. The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree, he shall grow like a cedar of Lebanon. Satan always wanted to be cedar of Lebanon. Ezekiel chapter 28, Lucifer will go into lake fire on judgement day.
92:13. Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.

Wickedness, and evil won't flourish. The wicked and Satan are destroyed on judgement day. Thee righteous will flourish for eternity. Children of light have the victory. Peace.

Evil arises from ignorance. But ignorance is not only lack of knowledge, there is spiritual ignorance, affective ignorance, and many more types of ignorance.
Evil also arises from deformity, when someone just lacks something or has a distorted nature.
Some evil depends on our decisions, other evils are structural and can't be removed by us.

The question is... we all want to be happy, we all like beauty, order, etc. Ok. But when we are placed in this life where suffering and deception is the norm, are we still going to love all this happiness, this beauty and this order?

- Are we going to find a cure for the cancer dedicating out entire life to help others? Or are we going to complain all the time about the inevitable evils of this world?
- Are we going to participate in this evil for personal profit? or are we going to renounce all this evil at a personal cost?
- Are we going to be with the oppressors? or we are going to be with the oppressed?
- When oppressors dress themselves as "Christians" or "Muslims" or "atheists" or ... and the oppressed are falsely signaled as the "oppressors" ... are we going to let ourselves be deceived? or we are going to be diligent and inform ourselves with a righteous judgement to discover the truth?
- Are we going to remain silent when we know the truth? or are we going to tell the truth even when the entire society is going to stone you for telling the truth?
- Are we going to let ourselves fall in our convenient fantasies? or are we going to do an effort to critically examine our ideas and evaluate if they fit the truth against our interests?
- Are we going to pretend to be righteous and pure? or are we going to admit all our mistakes, our false ideas, our ignorance, our egoism and then try to understand why we do these things to find a real solution?
- Are we going to pretend we do all for ourselves? or are we going to admit that everything have been given to us in a way or another?

How much we really love happiness, beauty, justice, truth, etc.? This is the question we are answering in this life.

I have failed in some of these tests... but I try.

Today, to be a real Christian, a righteous person, is as difficult as ever. Because righteous people in all places in all times have difficulties, which are the proof that they are righteous.

Genesis 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Genesis 6:6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
Genesis 6:7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
Genesis 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

If you notice that only Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord as he was the only one faithful to God and walked according to the seven commandments God gave to Noah and all generations to come after the flood.

Noahic Laws:
Not to worship idols.
Not to curse God.
To establish courts of justice.
Not to commit murder.
Not to commit adultery or sexual immorality.
Not to steal.
Not to eat flesh torn from a living animal.

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
Hosea 4:7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.

From the time of Noah after the flood man began to turn away from God because of the curse of Ham exposing his fathers nakedness, Genesis 9:18-27. Canaan's sons were Heth, Jebus and Amorus as their descendants were the Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites who became a hostile people that came against God. You can do a search on this.

Hi curiousmind

I know that what you mean by that is why God doesn't intervene when matters of sin are what you consider to be dreadfully egregious, but...

God doesn't measure sin by your standard of 'egregiousness'. God hates all sin. So, if God were to intervene, then you wouldn't be here. I wouldn't be here. None of us would be here. God would have brought this realm of existence to a close long, long ago.

Trust that God knows what He's doing. He is allowing all mankind to come to the truth and choose to live the life that He created us to live in the first place. But, also according to His testimony to us, most won't. On the day of God's perfect judgment, after the 1,000 year reign of the saints upon the earth with Jesus, it's all going to get worked out and you will see the day that you are now hoping for. The day that God will intervene.
