Ok the is a serious question. I was wondering how god feels about marijuana. I am asking this for personal reasons. I really need help on this.

I would say using any kind of drug just for the kick of getting high is not much different than the drunkard using wine or any type of alcohol for the kick of getting high.
Jesus called sinners to repentance and he preached for them to follow Him and to go and sin no more. And Paul did no different!
When Jesus chose his disciples, he called them to follow Him. He didn't call them to get high and drunken and act like a bunch of irresponsible hippies who thought it no big deal to be high just for the fun of it. :-?
Your comparisons are so outrageous and off the wall and far from the truth of what good examples were in those days, and the meaning of why people had long hair or not in those days has nothing to do with the hippies of these days. :-?
Are you accusing Jesus of smoking marijuana? :o Sometimes I think you just come on board only to ruffle a few feathers and lead people astray :-? It's a crying shame the amount of misleading posts that you present on this board. :-? We have no choice but to come back and correct your garbage posts. That verse is talking about certain seeds and fruits. Not the toxic leaves, fruits or seeds of plants because there was no corruption in the garden of Eden when God said that.
As it is now in the world, with all of it's present day corruption of people's spirits and things material , I can eat a certain seed from a specific variety of the poppy plant, I can make poppyseed bread, and bakery and not get high. But if I misuse the pod of a specific poppy seed plant (the ones that are illegally grown outside of the United States. ) and make dope out of it does that mean it's okay? :-? I would hardly think so!
Not every plant or seed is good for food or consumption! Nor is every plant safe to touch, let alone smoke it!
Smoking tobacco can cause cancer and serious lung diseases. And you dare try to use that verse from the bible to justify smoking marijuana? :-?
There are plenty of intoxicating effects of using marijuana. Those who use if for medicinal reasons, are they allowed to drive while they are under the influence? Infulence! That should be enough to tell you that you loose your own senses when you are using that drug! It numbs your senses and alters your reflexes. Not to mention all that tar that is being placed in your lungs. Yeah, real healthy! :roll: Don't you know that all drugs have SIDE EFFECTS!
And if I take a drug to mask the symptoms of one just to gain the side effects of using the drug, is it really a CURE?
God's ways do not cause harm. Man's ways pervert what God meant for Good.
If a plant is poisonous, does that mean God is a liar? NO! Some plants are a danger to us. And IF we listen to the wise counsel of God, then we are lead to stay out of harms way. This world has become corrupt. We are not in the Garden of Eden anymore, and so, not all plants are beneficial to us for consumption in any form!

I think part of the issue is coherency. I mean, can I testify of Christ under mind numbing influences whether it be marijuana, alcohol or any other thought-altering drugs? Would my effectiveness be hindered, could I find the scriptures as easily as I could before, can I field the questions/objections effectively and is my general presentation up to par with what some may come to expect? Or am I otherwise more apt to remain quiet if the subject is brought up knowing I'm not exactly fit to witness for Christ.
Am I more susceptible to temptation, are my judgments as sound and am I as studious or motivated to seek Christ while under the influence? We are to be ambassadors of Christ, a responsibility accepted when we surrendered to Him.
Is it a sin? If it is for those you are with then yes, it's a sin to be or get high in their presence. Is it OK to promote the practice? Besides being illegal it may not be a good idea since the promoter may very well be held accountable by God just as much as those that accept it who may find themselves at some disadvantage spreading the gospel.
Then of course there's the secular reasons as well, like driving or raising kids in an environment which includes the practice of smoking marijuana.

thank you all for your input. I have just recently gave my life back to the lord. I am trying hard to live my life by his will. I will not lie I normally do smoke marijuana. Relic to answer your questin I normally get high to help me sleep, and help me stay more calm, and I wont lie I like it. But if its not what god would have me do then I will stop. I think that I should stop.

thank you all for your help. I will quit smoking pot. Please pray for me. Pray that god gives me the streanght to get clean. I now know that I need to clean up thanks. Right now I an having some personal issues also, if you all could please pray for me.

I too believe that Jesus didn't have long hippie hair (and wasn't pale white either, or taller than his average man either) because the bible gives us no proof that he had any of those things, and, the onyl proof we have abotu what people looked like back then, would say this is jesus

Although the Bible never says "Thou shalt not do drugs", it does say we should abide by the laws of the land. I also think God wants us to take care of our bodies and since we know that marijuana effects our thinking and judgement, and the smoke pollutes our lungs, I don't think it is something that pleases God. It also has a tendency to lead some people to heavier drugs so it is wise to not only protect ourselves from that but also others, because we don't know who is susceptible to such temptations.

My father as been abusing marijuana since I was born. When i was 12 he gave up cigarettes, and instead, bought more pot.
at the age of 16, he spent 3/4 of his money on Pot, leaving my mom to have to pay 90% of the bills and everything else. My mom finally divorced him in 2001, and we were free! yay!
since then, he is supposed to pay like 250 a week in child support, + 1/2 medical or educational expenses, and he has paid, about 300 dollars, in 5 years.
My mom makes 22k a year, and supports 3 children, 2 of which are college bound. We can barely afford anything. I work 60 hours a week so I can pay for college. I shovel my neighbors walkways and trim her hedges, and maintain her computers, in exchange for sharing her wireless connection.
We have had our phone turned off several times, Our water turned off, and our electric turned off before. We don't have cable. We don't go on vacations. I have to buy my own clothes (my mom offers to, but I know if she does she will have to skip something else)
I used my grandmas car for transportation to work, because she had her leg amputated. The agreement was, that I would take her to dr appointments and to the store, and i could use the car otherwise.
My dad "rolled" through a stopsign, and rear ended a stopped, flashinglight schoolbus, at 40 miles an hour, totally destroying his truck. Therefore, since he mooches off my grandma (he used to live with her for free) he got to use the car. We were supposed to share, but after beign late to school and work abotu 10 times, I began riding my bike (5-10 miles a day)
Finally, he gives me the car back for a weekend, because he is going to see my uncle (who grows pot in canada) and what do i know? the car is missing a 4x4 inch square piece of tread out of the front right tire, has a HUGE dent in teh back, adn neither tail light work. I pay out of MY pocket to fix these things, so it is safe to drive, and he takes it back. I complain to my grandma, and she says she will do soemthing, but she doesn't/
He has never rememebrd my birthday since i was 12. He doesnt remember any holidays or anything. Never calls me or anything else. He is always too busy smoking pot. Recently he got into heavier drugs, and was arrested abotu 3 times for driving with out a liscence and drug possession. He is awaiting court now.
Its not how bad he has hurt me, that makes me hate him. its the fact that he had to smoke pot, and basically ruined my brother Christophers life. I atleast had a dad that would occasionally play baseball with me, or take me to a park. My brother chris was 7 years old when my dad stopped carring and pot was more important than his kids.

I have no idea why we picture Christ the way we do today. And I believe Satan is depicted far and away from what he may really appear to be. He's supposed to have been a very beautiful angel and it fits really. Temptation is very alluring and not ugly at all.
