Bible Study GOD HATES SHRIMP!!

Guest

Leviticus 11:9-12 says:
"These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat. And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you: They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination. Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you."

Why would something like this be a sin? What the hell is wrong with fish without fins?

Whatever it is, it's an abomination ranking as high as faggotry. Be careful next time you go to Red Lobster.

IT'S THE CANS!!!

HE HATES THOSE CANS!!!

STAY AWAY FROM THE CANS!!

I can just imagine someone asking a Jewish person that same question back in the old testament times. "Why won't your God let you eat shrimp?" They probably just said "because God asked us not to." I think it is just a way to show that His chosen people were different and holy unto Him. Much like how now we "don't conform to this world" as Christians so we can be holy and set apart for God and show others we are different.

Oh man, that cracked me up! I haven't seen that movie in years!

1) It was sin in the old testament. That was the old testament, we live in a new day and age (since Jesus came back and died on the cross for us). We don't go by the old testament, although there are important things to know in there, we go by the new testament. What Jesus came back for.

God Hates shrimp?

Good- leaves a lot more for me to eat. Can you imagine the appetite on a guy God's size?

Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but back in those days, they didn't have restaurants and no laws on food preparation.

They also had no understanding on science, the universe, or where the earth might have come from.

Not sure if I understand what you are trying to say.

The Bible is not a science book, it is a Book about how we need salvation and shows us the way to receive it.

It tells us how much God loves us. It tells us that God so much wants us to love Him back.

That is the main theme of the Bible.

Shrimp are scavengers, just like lobsters. They eat anything, just like Pigs eat all the slop that you give them. If you eat them, you eat the slop they eat and therefore, its unhealthy.

Thats why.

Acts 11

7 And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat. 8 But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth. 9 But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

This is all I can find for now, but back in the hold days it was a sin to eat of something unclean. That was before Jesus. But God cleansed them and now we can eat that which we couldn't eat a long time ago.

That dream was symbolic of the people that Peter would meet. Just because it mentioned unclean animals in the context doesnt mean that this gives you the license to sin. Eating shrimp is unhealthy, just as eating Pork is unhealthy. God specifically instituted these laws for the good of the people and for you to say its ok to do so are promoting sin.

I would advise you to stop. . .

I eat shrimp every day. The Bible says that if poison were to come to my mouth, it would not affect me. Same goes with shrimp.

I am not promoting shrimp. Shrimp is FOOD that we EAT. But, hey, if you don't wanna eat it, by all means don't. MORE SHRIMP FOR ME!

God's law was made void after Jesus died on the cross for us. God said we are allowed to eat that which is unclean now.

Your ignorant of the scriptues, Julain. I suppose you think its ok to sleep around and murder because you believe that God abolished those laws as well?

How rediculous. You mis-quote those scriptures so that you can continue to live in sin without a conscience. Your promoting sin. Therefore, your practicing iniquity and therefore, Christ will reject you according to Matthew 7:21-23.

Your choice.

I find Kasey's parallel between muder, adultery, and the eating of shrimp utterly ridiculous. Dietary law was not written on tablets of stone. Further, my eating of shrimp does not afflict or abuse my brother. You will find that the Decalogue is entirely relational, as Jesus demonstrated in His 2 Great Commandments.

He Himself said that it was not went into a man that defiled him, but what comes from a man's heart that does.

Should I need point out the obvious?

I dont care how you find this to be. Its a dietary health statute that was instituted for the good of the people. However, yes, it does afflict and abuse your brother because if you say that its ok to eat shrimp to your brother, your telling him its ok to sin because this statute is a statute commanded by God to keep.

Oh, by the way, you took that quote entirely out of context. Its abou eating with un-washen hands as was dictated by the Traditions of the Elders from the Pharisees which become the Babylonian Talmud of Judaism.

Get your facts straight before you dare to try to use them to support what you say.

According to Paul, and according to the decision at Jerusalem in Acts 15:20, dietary laws do not apply to Gentiles. As for "abuse"- we are warned only not to let our freedom serve as a stumblingblock to the weaker brother 1 cor 8:9- so I wouldn't serve or eat shrimp in your presence.
Now, do you argue also that we all must be circumcised?

You forget, Kasey, that this admonition from Christ is found in Matthew 15- where the context is washing- AND in Mark 7, where my point is well founded. But let's allow the scriptures to speak:
Mark 7:14, KJV
And when he had called all the people [unto him], he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one [of you], and understand:
There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man. If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable. And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, [it] cannot defile him; Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats? And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
Do you not understand this teaching, Kasey? It is the very teaching that led Paul to preach observance to the spirit of the Law, not the letter of the Mosaic statutes.

So Kasey, have you got your facts straight now?
Have a great day.
O.C.
