After Adam and Eve sinned, God correctly predicted the consequences of their sin (Gen 3:14-19). One of those predictions was this:

“Your desire shall be for your husband,
and he shall rule over you." Gen 3:14b RSV

Look at what has happened. Paul and Peter command women to be submissive to their husbands, and many churches teach this.

I agree with this, but husbands often fail to do their part.
Ephesians 5:22-33.
If husbands and wives both did their part, there would be no problems.
The husband, being the spiritual head of the relationship, should first set the example.

I think God would rather a man and woman be on equal footing.

That is correct as I understand it. It is vital for the Husband to be a good spiritual leader to the Wife. And in the same way that the Wife is submissive to the Husband, the Husband is submissive to the Lord.

I think that the women's equality movement has made a big obstacle to this union being easily performed the way that it should be. That, and the men leading sinful lives making them not good leaders. Many men in todays world give their strength and position as leader to the women in the name of keeping the peace in the home. This is not spiritual, and women do not respect men like this either. This leads to strife and more distraction from the Lord and spiritual matters.

I don't think it was God's will that a man should rule over his wife. I think he was just stating that that was a consequence of the sin Eve had committed.

You seem to assume that headship and equality exclude each other. But in the New Testament, we read on the one hand that 'the head of Christ is God' (1 Corinthians 11). On the other hand we read that the Lord Jesus 'thought it not robbery to be equal with God'.

Headship and equality go hand in hand.

Elijah doesn't understand that he joined a board where the authority of Paul's writings will not be argued as un-Inspired. He joined knowing this was a rule but feels compelled to push it. This thread is now locked.
