Strength means power and when it is given to us by God through his grace it also gives us authority in the Spiritual realm to stand against the wickedness of this world and to allow God to reign in our lives.

Greek definition for authority: (exousia, ex-oo-see'-ah) ability, privilege, force, competency, freedom, mastery, control, delegate, influence, jurisdiction, liberty, power, right, and strength

Each verse below demonstrates Gods strength in us through His ability as it is no longer we that live, but Christ who lives in us and works through us to bring honor and glory to His name.

Esther 9:29 freedom from those who persecute you. Esther was a devout Jewish women who stood on her belief in God and was willing to lay her own life down for the compassion she had on her people by allowing Gods strength perform in her and through her.

Proverbs 29:1-27 influences come by the actions taken from the words that are spoken. Gods’ spoken words are dormant to the ear unless action is put in place, which brings the word to life.

Matthew 8:5-12 delegate to be an effective leader. As the Centurion commanded those under him we in Gods ministry need to also allow others to help so we are not overburdened and stress out.

Mark 1:21-28 God gives us jurisdiction to take authority over wicked ruling powers of this world to take back what is His.

Luke 9:1-5 ability to continue in the works of the Lord through Gods Spirit guiding us and supplying all our needs.

Luke 19:11-27 control gives us domination over all things that are the Lords. It is not our own control, but that which God entrust us with to use for Gods glory. Control regulates the outcome of any event or situation that is put before us.

Luke 20:19-26 force is the influence of a statement. When we speak to others it is Gods strength through his power and authority that is in us to stand firm in His word.

Acts 8:26-40 privilege is a special right given of God to those who believe in his name for the purpose of carrying out his ministry. Just like Phillip was called to where the eunuch was to minister the word to him, we are also called to minister the word where it needs to be heard.

Isaiah 40:31 strength refreshes us to stand and not be weary, to walk and not give up. We rely on Gods strength to help us through every obstacle that stands in our way.

2Corinthians 3:6-18 liberty is freedom to speak the truth through the utterance of the Holy Spirit without condemnation.

1 Corinthians 9:15-27 Mastery being subject to the temperance, or the ways of Gods word that gives us authority through the Holy Spirit to be able to run the race before us.

Matthew 7:15-29 competency is confidence in knowing what you are being taught or you yourself are teaching is truth or error as there are only two spirits that operate as one is Spirit of truth and the other spirit of antichrist or false prophets.

Gods’ strength is the driving force behind us to stay obedient to His word to bring glory and honor to His name in all things done here on earth.

:) Neh_8:10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

Your thread reminds me of a tremendous problem that I had with a Brother who was a co-pastor with me in a "house Church" which became so large that we had to leave my home and find a place to rent that would seat about 100 people.

The problem was this verse....
Luke 9:1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.

The age old question arises concerning "What was for the Apostles only, and not for us today"? Dispensational Baptist's believe that the authority and power were indeed given from Jesus to His disciples at that particular time period. Today, we are to invoke the power and authority of Jesus to a particular situation like rebuking a demon or healing the sick.

The authority and power are not ours, they are Christ's power and authority to announce. The question is, did what Jesus give the Disciples, apply to us today in the realm of His power & authority over demons and sickness?

Maybe i am off topic...
In verse Luk 9:10 And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida.

They are called Apostles IF Luke 9:10 is not for today is Eph 4:10-12 ?

Eph 4:10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
Eph 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

Jesus was a servant of God unto the people. The Disciples were servants of God through Jesus whom gave them the power and authority. Paul was a servant of God through that same power and authority given to him by Gods grace so yes, that power and authority is still alive in all the servants (us) of God by faith in that of Christ Jesus that we continue in the works of the Lord. It is not we, but Christ who works in us and through us.

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Act 19:13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
Act 19:14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.
Act 19:15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
Act 19:16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

Like I answered Choppers question, all we do is by faith no matter if we are called apostles, prophets, evangelist, pastors or teachers as Gods word is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow as it's all Gods spirit working in us and through us and all is done by faith in Christ Jesus that we continue in His good works.
