Psalm 1:1-6 NLT
Oh, the joys of those who do not
follow the advice of the wicked,
or stand around with sinners,
or join in with mockers.
But they delight in the law (the Gospel) of the Lord,
meditating on it day and night.
They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither,
and they prosper in all they do.
But not the wicked!
They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind.
They will be condemned at the time of judgment.
Sinners will have no place among the godly.
For the Lord watches over the path of the godly,
but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.

There's proof that Einstein was wrong: some information can travel faster than light. Church gossip, for example. >_<

Can't stand gossip. People can ruin someone's life that way, it's a very irresponsible behaviour.

Ugh celebrity gossip is an example of what's wrong with our world. The media try to tell us the relationship issues or the misconduct of some famous person is more interesting than our own lives and the lives of our neighbours.

Oh man...gossip is a HUGE problem in Christianity today. And many times we don't even realize we are doing it.

Gossip and judgement often times go together. In fact, I was just reading something about this!
There is a Christian rapper named Lecrae and it seems many times when he posts photos on his facebook people judge him. There was this one image of him having a picture with a secular rapper and another with him drinking a bottle of something (it turned out to be a brand of water, but people thought it was alcohol) Rather than talk to him...tons of Christians were judging his heart based only on a photo without knowing any of the background of that photo. Talking about someone is gossip...and with gossip comes judgement. The two almost always go together.

I'd like to say things like this are rare instances. But sadly this is pretty common among Christians. Evangelicalism has really strayed very far from the original church.

A huge amount of Christians are guilty of this one...just watch the news.

The worst thing about rumors, is that they can sometimes be malicious, twisted versions of facts. Consider Mary, the mother of Jesus. No doubt the women/men in her town looked down on her for being unwed & pregnant. Surely they ridiculed her for being engaged to one man, & impregnated by "another". I bet they even ostracized her, and called her names. All of their "rumors & gossip" were true.....yes, she was unwed & pregnant. Yes, she was engaged & impregnated by another, but the TRUTH was that she was blessed, and highly favored amongst women, chosen to bear the Son of God. The same problems exist today! People/media present bits of facts without presenting the TRUTH behind them, and our society is now conditioned to find gossip as a form of entertainment (i.e. TMZ, nightly news, entertainment tonight, etc.) It's sad, but as the word says "there is nothing new under the sun".
