Great Concerts You've Been To

In my later teens (early 80's), I was always going to concerts. Loved 'em!! I'd love to list them all, but a few stand out.

Night Ranger - First concert. The main floor rushed the stage, and I ended up against it. (embarrassing -->) Their drummer threw a stick out, a girl and I both caught it, and I 'bout leveled her on the floor to call it mine. I looked up to see the drummer shaking his head at me in shame. :gah
U2 - X2
John Cougar/Melloncamp - X3
Bruce Springsteen - X3 I handed an usher cash to get down to the main floor, was 20 feet from stage when Bruce told it was going to be a long show and to have a seat. I had none, so I was escorted off main floor. :gah
Journey
Prince :sorry
Hank Williams Jr.

into recent years

Third Day - X3
Casting Crowns
Mercy Me
Tenth Avenue North
Toby Mac - X2

What are some great concerts you've been to?

Winter Jam 2012. First concert.
Skillet, NewSong, Sanctus Real, Peter Furler, Kari Jobe, Building 429, Group1Crew, Dara Maclean, For King & Country, and We As Human were there.

While there I discovered that I quite like Building 429 and For King & Country.
And I already liked Skillet. They were the last to go on and definitely the crowd favorite.
I had been up since 6 AM that morning and by the middle of the concert was starting to feel very tired. My fatigue somehow disappeared when Skillet was on, though.
Not saying that they're the only part of the concert I enjoyed. Not by a long shot.

I don't much like those concerts with so many bands. There's too much down time with all the changes, and each band only plays a few songs. I just start getting into them, and they're done. :sad

Watkins Glen Summer Jam 1973. For that weekend, Watkins Glen became the second largest city in New york State, 600,000+.

Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers, and The Band (best ever.)

I grew up just a few miles from there, and spent a lot of weekends at the Grand Prix races.

If that's #4, I'd like to see 3, 2, and 1! :o I'm guessing there were more than just a few "pharmaceuticals" being shared by the masses. :dead

Yeah, there were a lot of drugs. Practically had to walk "drug alley" from where we camped to the stages. I was with a girl who became my wife the next year. We didn't do drugs, and not that much beer either. The couple we were with was a different story. :)

Spice Girls, December 2007 Los Angeles, CA AND February 2008 Toronto Canada (Yes, I was so psyched I saw it twice, the beauty of dual citizenship. And turns out the Toronto one was the last Spice Girls concert ever... cried...)

Black Sabbath, Chula Vista, CA April 2007 (Heaven & Hell tour. The joys of being a goth teenager...)

Aqua, Sacramento CA sometime in 2001 (First concert ever, had a curfew of 10pm...)

Hillsong Australia were here last 2007 , that was the first international christian band i've been to .

I've been to Kris Allen's ( American idol ), concert here in the country at waterfront hotel...

there were other great concerts i've been to but with local artists...:)

My Man! :thumbsup From a secular concert point of view, it doesn't get any better than that! Largest three band concert, ever.

But I was just 16 at the time and my parents would have none of that. But I did go on to see all three of their bands in their many incarnations many times. So many times for the Dead that I lost track after 50. :D

Best secular concerts ( the ones I can remember :lol ):

Climax Blues Band
J. Geils Band
Eagles/Poco (it was outdoors at a stadium. We brought bottle rockets... good times :lol )
Zeppelin
Yes
Triumph
Grateful Dead/Marshall Tucker/New Riders of the Purple Sage at Raceway Park (115,000 at that show)
Grateful Dead/Willie Nelson - Giants Stadium
Country Sunday at Giants Stadium in 1980 - Mega artist show
Lynyrd Skynyrd (before the plane crash)

Ooh, ooh, Stevie Ray/Joe Cocker :clap 22 years since the 'copter crash that took his life and I still miss him. :sad

Buddy Guy/Stevie Ray/Steven Tyler & Joe Perry/Alex Lifeson & Geddy Lee & get this; John McEnroe & Vitas Gerulaitis. Clarence Clemons (the Big Man) and his band (no, not the E Street Band) were there too.

It was a concert put on by the two tennis pros called, Tennis Rock.. They were both guitar players and had their own band. They put together this show to raise money for the Special Olympics.

Though I don't go to secular shows any more, I did make an exception a couple of years ago to see The Allman Brothers Band at The Beacon Theater in NYC. They were celebrating their 40th. anniversary. It was an amazing show.

Best Christian concerts:

Rebecca St. James (she actually has "Alter Calls" at her shows)
Third Day (what can I say, it's Third Day!)
Casting Crowns (Mark sounds even better in concert)
The Newsboys (w/Peter Furler of course)
Switchfoot (this is one tight band, a must see concert)

I'll ignore the doctinal problems i have with Hillsong to say that they put on a great show with great music. :thumb

For me, Switchfoot in 2010 were fantastic. :thumbsup
Dream Theater in '08 was pretty much a dream conme true. :)
