Growth Halfhearted Obedience

"For you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears." (Hebrews 11:17)

This verse is about Esau. He sold his inheritance for a morsel of food. When he wanted his inheritance back he could not get it because he had already sold out. Who are you sold out to today, the world or the Lord?

Will you sell your God given inheritance for worldly possessions or security? Where is you heart, with God or the world?

Sometimes you don't realise what you're giving up until it's gone. ( typo Sandy Hebrews 12 )

In this world I've had less and I've had much, but without Christ in my life I have nothing as all things will perish, but never the love of Christ.

The Lord only gives us wealth so we can serve Him with our money. All the wealth in the world means nothing to Him, but simple obedience to His calling is what He expects from us.

Actually the Lord does not give us monetary wealth as that is something we gain on our own. If he did we would all be rich, but we see that is not the case for many of us that live paycheck to paycheck. God will make a way where there seems to be no way as he does supply our needs, but not our material wants.

I would hope that he will give us what we need to serve Him. What kind of a master would He be if He sent us on an errand and did not give us the means to do that service? I am not talking about our material needs, but our needs to serve Him. "You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God." (2 Cor. 9:11) NIV

Thanks for clarifying the wealth part. I guess I was looking at how so many Pastors preach the prosperity get rich message that does lead some to wonder why God has not made them rich monetarily.

I believe in prosperity, but only to serve the Lord. This other nonsense about having a nice home, car, and stuff is so blasphemous. The Lord gave me all of this stuff, but it means nothing if I can't use it to serve Him. I went through a period of time when I had nothing but a bed, a table, and a couch. I lived in a small apartment. Now I have all the stuff that we need to be respectable in society. I think I was better off when I didn't have so much. I didn't have so much to worry about and take care of.

There's nothing wrong with having nice things, but when we put those things above that of God then they become our idols and that becomes adultery in the eyes of God.

That's true. Stuff can really be a distraction to us though. I remember when I didn't have a car I didn't have to worry about insurance, taking care of it, and worrying if it was going to be stolen. When I just had an apartment I didn't have to worry about maintenance issues. If just called the office and they took care of it. I love the stuff I have now, don't get me wrong, but not having two cars, a house, play toys, and all kinds of stuff can also free you up to think on other things. The Lord never let me down during those tough times though. I always had food and a roof over my head. I'm not sure how some months but the bills always go paid.

Halfhearted.
Inner man of the heart. Our natural pacemaker looks a lot like a crucified man. When the natural pacemaker fails it is sometimes replaced with a battery powered manmade unit. Man tries so hard (tears -to establish our own righteousness), but we really need a new birth (heart of flesh).

Two conditions pull the natural man away from God. The cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches. Too little and the natural man steals. Too much and natural man is too busy for God. Paul learned to be content in whatever condition he was in (result of the new full beating heart). The inner work of the spirit (pacemaker is nerve network -symbol). Also all blood goes through the lungs to pick up air ( spirit oxygen ? life?).

Enough of all this symbolism. Christ works in us to direct us.
