Happy Good Friday

That's what some tv Anchor morning show host said this morning.
I though "that's inappropriate isn't it?"
We Christians might say "Happy Easter Sunday" on Sunday.
I think sometimes Christianity is marginalised. To say "happy good Friday" is disrespectful in my view. But maybe I'm too serious eh.

It is a happy good Friday for us as Christ gave His life for us on this day in order for us to have eternal life with Him. It's the day of the finished works of the cross that we rejoice in the love God has for all.

Good Friday is a solemn day for Catholics. As we attend Stations of the Cross.
We share the pain of Jesus on Calvary , knowing and trusting that we will also share his ressurection two days later.
Good Friday is not a joyful day.

To me it is also a solemn day reflecting on the finished works of the cross and what Jesus had to endure for His love for all, but also knowing the greatest love we will ever know as Jesus willingly laid down His own life that we may have life eternal with Him. We come to the foot of the cross, but do not stay there as we have to died to self raised up in the newness of life by His Holy Spirit as we follow in the footsteps of Christ. To me it is also a joyous day as the grave could not Hold Him.

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Rev 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

I'm going to be pedantic here glory. Seems you are backtracking now. Contradicting your previous assertion that Good Friday was a day of joy.
It can't be respectfully solemn and joyful at the same time.

I understand where for_his_glory is coming from. But every year I dread Good Friday. The horrendous pain and suffering our Saviour went through and all because of us. What great love He has. Nothing can compare. The mother of Jesus witnessing all that agony must have been unbearable.
I love Easter Sunday when He is risen to be victorious over death and later glorifird. Roll on Sunday!

When I read and visualize Matthew chapter 26-28 and see all that Christ went through for us leading up to being nailed to the cross and the agony He was in is very solemn and playing it in my mind or watching it in a video I can cry my eyes out as it is so sad. But to know and understand the why of all of it on this side of the cross, which at that time they did not know or understand on that day standing on that hill of Golgotha weeping and crying at the foot of the cross, that they were witnessing the greatest gift of love through God's grace that Christ laid down His own life, as no one could take that from Him, in order for us to have eternal life with Him to all who by faith believe in Him. My joy through the solemnness is that greatest love I never knew in my life.

Hope this explains it better as not everyone gets it.
