Have YOU actually read the Bhagavad Gita? (Hindu Text)

What's bizarre is that so many people who quote from the OT never learn from it! That's like people being so upset that speeding into a bridge will cause death, that their solution is to speed into the bridge! God tells us many times what will happen if we defy him. But nevertheless, people still continue to mock and defy him and then they complain about hell! Go figure. Some people never learn.

I agree Heidi,

2 Timothy 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Petrushka,

Right on...!!!

Let me know what you think of it...

Edited:

No Promotion of other religions :D

Thanks BB

Okay, I picked up the book today. It's not exactly what I was expecting. I don't know if it was the library's fault, or mine, but what I got was The Bhagavad Gita For Daily Living Vol. 3: To Love Is To Know Me by Eknath Easwaran.

It is actually Easwaran's commentary on the last 6 chapters of the Bhagavad Gita. I'm about 50 pages or so into it and find it a very fascinating read. I probably won't agree with everything it has to say, but it looks to me like there's a lot of wisdom in there and a lot I can learn. :D

Sweet deal!

Easwaren is quite a great writer and ties in the philosophy of the east in a simple way for readers to understand.....

If nothing else, the Gita teaches one how to control the passions of anger and lust quite adequately....

LOL.... yes, how "noble" of Gandhi to sleep naked with two young girls! His relationship with his own children sure showed us how to control anger.... you issue stupid rules and when they object, you IGNORE your children.

What a role model of controlled anger and lust.

:-? :-?

I agree. I'm actually glad I got this book, instead of just the Gita. I don't think I would've gotten nearly as much out of it without Easwaren's commentary.

Gary,

You should check out the movie they made of Gandhi in the early 90's I believe it is.....

Your posts show an utter LACK of who this man really was......

No one is perfect but just imagine how hard it would be for YOU to be perfect when you are in jail half your life, constantly fasting, being beaten and abused by the Imperialists..... all the while you are seeking to reform the caste system in the Hindu faith!!!!!

Gandhi did all that! He loved and loved and loved his fellow man and never resorted to violence to reform the atrocities shelled out by the British monster.

Petruska,

Gita chapters 5 and 6 are my personal fav.

It lays out practical advice for meditation and spritual discipline.

Sounds great! When I'm done with this volume, I'll definitely look for Easwaren's text and commentary on those chapters.

Dear Soma-Sight,

I don't think Satan is always fooling enough to show his true color for everybody, Depending upon the people (whom he is dealing with) he can be an Angle of Light or Roaring Lion or Satan himself

Hinduism is not just based out of Gita, It includes Vedas, Upanishads and Puranas, and There are lots of stupidities involve in it.
Say for Example; See the immorality of the author (Krishna) of Gita

"Krishna became a householder (head of a household) in Dvaraka and married many wives, and had many sons and grandsons. In the race of the Yadus, no one was poor; everyone had many children, lived a long life, and respected Brahmins. But they were so numerous that one could not count them even in a hundred years. The terrible demons who had been slain in the battle of the gods and demons were born among men, and so at the command of Visnu the gods became incarnate in the race of Yadus to repress the demons.... When Krsna had killed the demons, and thus relieved the burden of the earth, he thought, 'The earth is still overburdened by the unbearably burdensome race of the Yadus. No one else can overcome them, since they are under my protection.' ... Deluded by Krsna's power of delusion, and cursed by the Brahmins, they were all destroyed, and when his entire family had been destroyed, Krsna said, 'The burden has been removed.' " -- Srimad Bhagavatam 10:90:27-44; 11:1:1-4; 11:30:1-25.

"One of Krishna’s wives asked Krishna to give her a son equal to the lord of the gods. Krsna performed asceticism for Siva, who granted him a son, Samba. Krsna took sixteen thousand maidens for his pleasure, and then, under the pretext of the Brahmins' curse, he destroyed his own family and lived in Prabhasa. After living for a hundred and one years in Dvaraka, where he had removed the sorrow of old age, he made the curse of the sages come true." -- Linga Purana 1:69:71, 82-84.

Hinduism is same as the Babylonian paganism which God Hates

I really don’t want to talk about Shiva and Kali to spoil the total mood of this forum

1. How to worship animals and monkeys...
2. How to worship golden idols...
3. How to sacrifice your young virgin daughter for the gods...

Do you want to know the authentic verses from Hindu sacred scriptures for the above?

Thanks

Soma : "You should check out the movie they made of Gandhi in the early 90's I believe it is....."

I don't believe what ever taken in the movie is right...

Soma : "No one is perfect but just imagine how hard it would be for YOU to be perfect when you are in jail half your life, constantly fasting, being beaten and abused by the Imperialists..... All the while you are seeking to reform the caste system in the Hindu faith!!!!!"

This is utter false statement, Gandhi was not beaten while seeking to reform caste system, It was for Indian freedom from Brittan , It is not only Gandhi but so many other freedom fighters, The Caste system is still healthy in India, It is all because of the faulty teaching of Hinduism

Soma : "Gandhi did all that! He loved and loved and loved his fellow man and never resorted to violence to reform the atrocities shelled out by the British monster."

Yes Gandhi never used violence but he hated Christians and missionaries

Thanks

Sounds a lot like the God of the OT when he sanctions the genocide of whole races of people through Saul, through the flood and through fire!

I SEE WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO DO! YOU CLAIM THAT THERE IS "EVIL" IN THE HINDU RELIGION...... PLEASE NOTICE I NEVER CLAIMED THAT SCRIPTURE IS "INNERRANT" (This includes the Bible!) The ego of man writes "myths" of the gods in this religion to suit their own purposes.....

Just like the Jews did when they proclaimed that God had sanctioned the mass slaughter of every man, women, and child in the book of Numbers!

Yes Gandhi never used violence but he hated Christians and missionaries

Gandhi hated self righteous pride and pressure tactics to convert people.

He HATED the fact that missionaries burned to the ground all the temples that the Hindu people had errected many years ago and was part of their heritage!

I think if I was a baptist I would HATE an Islamist that burned my Church to the ground...... Wouldnt you? So what is wrong with hate in the right circumstances...? Your God's name is Jealousy and is a CONSUMING FIRE!

How do you reconcile this verse? Since your God is all good and Krsna is not?

Isaiah 45:7 (King James Version)

7I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

I am not saying Killing Evil people or evil race is bad , All i am saying is marrying 16000 girls and having sex outside marriage is not a God thing!

I think you are wrongly informed, You cannot give me a single proof that missionaries burned hindu temples but i can give 100 proof for vice versa . I don't know where from you are getting this Wrong information.

Yes God has Zeal for his people, He never share his glory with Satan, Is it a bad thing?

[/quote]

What is you point? . Cross is a bad thing, Death is the bad thing but yet God used both to forgive the fallen man kind. He can create good out of Evil .
