I don't think Jesus was a ghost or that they were either.
Doesn't it mention somewhere Deb that the disciples first thought Jesus was a ghost when they first saw him in his resurrected body because he could go through walls?Of course He was not.But I do not know where it is.

I am not sure, really. I have woken up a few times in the night and I kind of see a person. I saw one guy sleeping on the floor and once I woke up as a bright man was looking at me

My son was once in the bathroom of a very large department store. He entered and it was only him in there. When he went to wash his hands a hand came over the stall and was waving at him.He then went and looked at all the stalls and opened the doors.Nothing was there.

Yes it does and about the graves that were opened. And after Jesus was resurrected they also came out of their tombs and were seen by many people.
I think a resurrection performed by the power of God for a witness to the resurrection of the dead in Christ is very different than just anybody's ghost appearing to people.

So I think that anything that someone may see that looks like a dead person's spirit, it is demonic.
God is very clear about trying to contact the dead, don't do it.

I agree Deb.I think it is demonic as well.

14 So he said to her, "What is his form?" And she said, "An old man is coming up, and he is covered with a mantle." And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground and bowed down. 15 Now Samuel said to Saul, "Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?" And Saul answered, "I am deeply distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God has departed from me and does not answer me anymore, neither by prophets nor by dreams. Therefore I have called you, that you may reveal to me what I should do." 16 Then Samuel said: "Why then do you ask me, seeing the Lord has departed from you and has become your enemy? 17 And the Lord has done for Himself as He spoke by me. For the Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor, David. 18 Because you did not obey the voice of the Lord nor execute His fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore the Lord has done this thing to you this day. 19 Moreover the Lord will also deliver Israel with you into the hand of the Philistines. And tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. The Lord will also deliver the army of Israel into the hand of the Philistines." 1 Samuel 28:14-19

1 Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; 2 and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. 3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. 4 Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." 5 While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!" Matthew 17:1-5

I almost mentioned this one to Kathi but the way I read it is that Saul didn't see Samuel, the medium of EnDor told him what she saw and Saul just understood it to be Samuel from her description.

He perceived that it was Samuel and bowed downed because he recognized him.

Saul answered Samuel because he heard him speak.

I think,
Here again we have a manifestation, maybe in glorified bodies, of men of God, by the power of God.
For the purpose of glorifying God.

But still we just don't know for sure what form they were in. The disciples didn't touch them like they did Jesus. Spirit - maybe.

I can only think of two places in the Bible that mention spirits of the dead appearing to the living - Samuel, when Saul had the witch at Endor conjure him up and Moses and Elijah on the mount of the transfiguration. I don't think either of those can be used to support the idea of ghosts as most people today think of them.

You know JLB, I just don't know.
I don't think Saul saw Samuel because of how that word "yada" is so often meaning "to know" rather than to see. There's a scripture that says something about "not seeing therefore not perceiving, and not hearing so not understanding". But setting that aside I do think Saul may actually have spoken to Samuel.
I wonder why God would do this, have Samuel prophecy to Saul about his death by the very means He condemned.
Saul had said that God wouldn't answer him, even in dreams or visions. Saul had become a perverse man, wasting the blessings God had given him. So maybe the method the message was delivered to him was actually part of the message. God only speaking to him through a medium and a dead man.
Just the thought of that is pretty terrifying in itself.
It's no wonder Saul killed himself, he was just a mess.

This is very relevant Deborah. Saul was using a forbidden medium in attempt to find out what God wouldn't tell him. It's likely it wasn't God's prophet Samuel that gave him the information.

That maybe true too. That was my first thought, that it wasn't Samuel at all, which I would prefer to believe. But from the scripture I cannot seem to get there.
If we believe it was not Samuel then we knowledge the power of prophecy to demonic beings.
Did God say, He sent Samuel or is it a man saying that God sent Samuel?

I see a ghost every morning when I look into the mirror. :lol
That's the reason women are encouraged to wear makeup. Men are so very lifelike all the time we don't need it, else it's our selective sight or dirty mirrors we need to wake up and clean. :poke

I have never seen a ghost. I think they would be an evil spirit masquerading as a ghost. I don't think that an evil spirit would try this with a Christian. We know to test the spirits and of the power of the name of Jesus Christ and they wouldn't want to risk being banished or something, lol. The last thing an evil spirit want is to come upon a Spirit filled believer, lol!

I think that if you are a Christian, and have seen a ghost, that you should consider if you are a fence sitter of sorts. Search your heart, and also think back to if you have ever toyed within the occult, or any of your family. If this is so, then you may want to pray a renunciation prayer. It is my understanding that the sin of occultism and it's curses can be visited upon up to four generations of the children. So perhaps it doesn't even have to be you that dabbled in the occult, but your grandma or something like that. If in doubt, pray the renunciation prayer anyway...

Would you be scared if you saw an evil spirit or demon?

I wouldn't. Why should I be? If you can see them, they can't sneak up on you, lol. Give 'em both barrels of the name of Jesus Christ between the eyes...boom.
