he maketh fire come down from heaven

Rev 13;13
And he doeth great wonders,so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

Just think ,2000 years ago this would have a been a sight to see.
But today it has become so commonplace that we dont even pay much attention to such marvels. We only think of the protection it provides when missiles strike the earth and people place thier faith in the mighty armies that provide that protection.
The US doesnt have its enemies on its doorstep so we dont think much about it but in a place such as Israel ,with the enemies they have in thier backyard, wonders such as this can be a welcome sight to see.
Just think. If someone could make fire come down from heaven in an effort to deliver you from the face of your enemies, how much would you welcome them?

LOL

Well, you know how some people are.
When a people denieth the Son and hath not the Father ,and all they can think of is national security they will pretty much do anything for it.

To say the least. that is going to be scary times. the beast will have great power to fool even the elect if that where possible. What does that say about the rest of the world,, oh yea, they wonder after him.... sad sad..

Hi guys,
New kid on the block here, figuring out how things work and lookin' around for a spot to jump in. I was wondering if any of you have ever considered the possibility that the false prophet might actually claim to be the latter day return of Elijah (Malachi 4:5). That may seem academic to those of you who think it obvious, but I never thought about it until a few years ago.

Several facts make this feasable: First, calling down fire from Heaven is obviously a duplication of the event on Mt Carmel, and would serve as a pretty good Elijah calling card. Second, he calls attention to, and encourages reverence for, the Messianic masquerader--like a satanic John the baptist. And third, well...he is called the "false prophet" for a reason, right? What better way to endorse a false Christ?

Feedback, anybody?

A little off the topic, but my thoughts... yes, it is very possible, especially because many people don't know, won't know or believe this prophecy was realized in Jesus' time. But before I box myself in, I never rule out the possibility of a multiple fulfillment of some sort.

The prophecy
Isa 40:3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

Mal 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:
Mal 4:6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

The fulfillment
Luke 1:13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
Luke 1:14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.
Luke 1:15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.
Luke 1:16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.
Luke 1:17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Mark 1:2 As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
Mark 1:3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
Mark 1:4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

John 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
John 1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
John 1:8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

The conformation
Mat 11:13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
Mat 11:14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.

Mat 17:10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?
Mat 17:11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.
Mat 17:12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.

Mark 9:11 And they asked him, saying, Why say the scribes that Elias must first come?
Mark 9:12 And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought.
Mark 9:13 But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him.

Hi Vic C,

Sorry, didn't realize I was off-topic. My intent was to add to the "he maketh fire" topic. My point was that the false prophet's act of calling fire down from Heaven could be a ruse to deceive people who don't know biblical truth (including the Jews who don't understand that John fulfilled the prophecy), into believing that he is Elijah--thereby deceiving them as to the identity of the man of sin he endorses. It's even possible that a similar sacrifice ritual might be involved. Anyway, just a thought. We shall see....

I believe that a new weapon (one that will make nuclear arsenals obsolete) will bring the AC into power and the world stage. I believe this is a demonstration of that weapon.

By the description, it sounds to me like a laser or some sort. With all eyes looking toward the sky for an asteroid and scientist racing to develop a means of dealing with a space rock, it is possible that a laser, operated from space, is developed and quickly overtaken by the military.

There is a Bond (007) movie (I forget the name) that has such a weapon. It is only a matter of time before it becomes a reality.

Hello Guy,
interesting theory and plausible premise. I tend to think however, that since the false prophet seems to be about religious deception by means of miraculous acts, it's more likely he will duplicate the literal calling down of fire as Elijah did, possibly in an actual ceremony. We'll see.

Yours in Christ,

Randy

The false prophet doesnt need a laser to make fire down from heaven. Both the beast and the king of the north can already do that. The false prophet only needs the go ahead .Where do you think all this fire came from in this video?

Its funny how the laser theory has spread like a urban legend, while a simple bomb from the sky fulfills this prophecy too. Indeed the false prophet (not one man, but the whole group of united religions )will have power in military matters too as the Bible predicts. Like a lapdog this group will try and please the One Word Order beast and will participate in the war , even against the saints.

The Bible takes everybody and all who do not preach the true gospel and lumps them together as the "False Prophet"

The false prophet group is the TAIL of the dragon, notice it takes out a third of the "stars" (seed of Abraham is like the stars of heaven ) So through preaching lies, the tail brings down a third of Christians :

Isa 9:15 ........... the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail. (ANY and EVERY person who teaches the lie becomes part of the "tail" )

What if the beast isnt as big as everyone thinks he is?
What if he is a very small kingdom with a small people?
What if it is so small it may be overlooked?

Daniel 11;23
And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully;for he shall come up,and shall become strong with a small people.

Daniel 7;25
And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws;and they shall be given into his hand untill a time and times and the deviding of time.

What if the little horn in this verse is a little kingdom and the saints in this verse are the saints in that little kingdom?Does this verse have to include me and you as well as all the world to be forfilled or could it be talking about a small group of saints?

The reason for the Beast and the False prophet and the Harlot etc, is only one , namely to bring the people of God , who call themselves by His Name, back to Him. For that God needs a persecution on a worldwide scale. So this time, no small country, but ALL the world will be involved, because this is the last time.

Mt 23;34
Wherefore, behold,I send unto you prophets, and wise men,and scribes;and some of them ye shall kill and crucify;and some of them shall ye scorge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city.

You do understand Jesus is speaking to the jewish rabis in the above verse dont you?
You know,Babylon.
Mt 23;35
That upon you may come all the rightous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of rightous Able unto the blood of Zechariah, son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the alter.

Rev 20;24
And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

It dont have to be a worldwide event for Jesus to send scribes to Jerusalem.
Mt 23;37
O Jerusalem,Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gatherd thy children together, even as a hen gathereth he chickens under her wings, and ye would not.

So does lightning. :eyebrow
Except its difficult to call it down LOL.

With a bomb drop its kind of easy: "Alpha Bravo, to Romeo Delta: Drop Fatboy on my mark, three, two , one:DROP" ...............fire from the sky ! :yes or just press the red button and Fatboy gets to fly on its own these days, and can be "called" to cause "fire from the sky" at any place on earth.

Rev 13:13 And he doeth great signs, that he should even make fire to come down out of heaven upon the earth in the sight of men.

Which makes lightning a great sign. At least it was good enough for Elijah. :twocents

Hi all,
Given that the purpose of the false prophet is to deceive the world about the beast, and make him an object of worship, I still lean towards the calling down of fire as a "lying wonder" for the purposes of religious deception. An attempt to present forged divine credentials seems far more likely to impress the world to this end, than a show of even the most sophisticated technology.

I can envision a recreation of the Mt Carmel event--if not an out and out attempt to impersonate Elijah: a false prophet presenting a false New Age Messiah. Remember that the world as a whole is ignorant of the Scriptures and the prophecies therein, and very susceptible to deception.

The bottom line is, there's a reason why, of all the supernatural signs the false prophet will perform, the Lord saw fit to point this one out in advance. Hmm....

Yours in Christ,

Randy

If you lived 2000-4000 years ago you would consider the things we see today as supernatural signs.
Im not even sure I could have described some of these things.
I'll give it a try though.Heres a jet.
In the midst of the flying creature was the likeness of a man sitting upon a throne.Above his head was a firmament ,like onto a terible crystal. When the flying creature turned,he turned not his body but flew straight forward. When it lifted up ,its wheels lifted up against it and out from under his wing came fire and was cast into the earth.

Now if I had lived 1500 years ago and sent myself this letter,I could spend a month thinking ,what in the world am I talking about. :confused
