Bible Study He who is least

...is greater than he.

John the Baptist.

John, come with the spirit of Elijah, leading people to repentance, and here comes a man whos sandles he is not worthy to touch.

Has this something to do with all prophets before Christ, up to John, only had the spirit upon them, where after Christ, was given the indwelling of the spirit?

That would make the least in the Kingdom greator than John, as John did not have the indwelling of the Spirit, yet John is greator than a prophet.

Dan Dan the Kiwi man. Your thread reminds me of....
Philippians 2:3 "Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 2:4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others."

There is a big difference, as you say, in the Spirit "coming on" the Saints of old, and today in which Jesus the Son of God causes Saints to be indwelt by the Holy Spirit.
The verses that I posted, remind us of "Who Is The Least.." Humility is the key word for our lives. How is humility practiced? V.3 gives the secret, "in humility count others more significant than yourselves."

Have a blessed prosperous day my friend. :hug

Matthew 10:24 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.
John 13:16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.

Before Messiah come John and all the prophets were servants of God under one master which is God. There were none above another as they were all servants of God. The Holy Spirit dwelled on them for the timing and purpose of when God used them, but now after Jesus who sits at the right hand of God has given all of us a commission to take His word out into the world, Matthew 28:18-20, and we do this through the indwelling Spirit of God who teaches us first and prepares us to take Gods word out to those who will have ears to hear.
