are good works lost in Hell or are the heat and flames turned up and down - twinc

I didn't know there was a place in hell for good works?

so since most are on the broad road and on the way to hell - the road to hell must be paved with good works and good workers - twinc

The Bible doesn't say "Most are on the way to hell". The broad road doesn't lead to hell, according to Matthew 7:13-14 it leads to destruction.

This tells me that being destroyed is the same thing as not being saved:

23 And someone said to Him, "Lord, are there just a few who are being saved?" And He said to them, 24 "Strive to enter through the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. 25 "Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, 'Lord, open up to us!' then He will answer and say to you, 'I do not know where you are from.' 26 "Then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets '; 27 and He will say, 'I tell you, I do not know where you are from; DEPART FROM ME, ALL YOU EVILDOERS.' 28 "In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrown out." (Luke 13:23-28 NASB caps in original)

Maybe some good works, but Jesus calls them evildoers.

My experience with people on the path to the fiery place is not that they are paving that path with good works. Maybe filling a few pot holes along the way with good works, but not paving it with good works.

I'm not aware of any reward in hell for doing right in this life. I do know of one's punishment being more bearable than someone else's because of being disobedient in regard to less revelation of truth.

Separation from God is separation from God, no matter who you are. I think what makes it worse for some than for others is having known more in this life and having greater potential for love and service to God and choosing to forsake that, versus the person who had less and chose to forsake that. Add to that it seems Christ will have some choice words for the person who forsook much. It's a matter of heat, not resistance to the heat, IMO.

Good works nor do good intentions get us into the kingdom of God. It's only by John 3:3-7; Romans 10:9,10 that we enter into the kingdom of God. People of self works and self good intentions will be cast into the lake of fire if their names are not found written in the Lambs book of life, Rev 20:15. Scripture does not speak of levels in the lake of fire for those who did good works or had good intentions.

Mat 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Mat 25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
Mat 25:33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
(read further down to see what happens to the sheep and goats)

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Php 3:18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
Php 3:19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

Right, it's the heat of God's particular accusations against you on your way to the lake of fire that will vary.
