Hello, My name is Jake, I'm soon to be 22 in January and reside in FL. Little about myself is I enjoy the outdoors, My passion is archery hunting. I like to tool leather, and here recently my interest and newly passion is reading and learning the Bible.
I've never really gave God a chance to allow him in my life. The bible was never introduced in my up bringing and up until I met my girlfriend freshman year in high school I never really attended church. Even so, When I did start a relationship with her, I didn't really take in what I should have when I did go to church with her and her family. She is my idol in many ways, one being her strong faith in the Lord. Fast forward 7 years (Yes I'm still with her, no not married YET!) and I STILL never gave God a chance. This all changed about 6 months ago...
I recently moved for a career opportunity and needless to say God has thrown a challenge at me. Even through the "tests" I've faced, I knew I was sent here for a reason. My present Boss is a strong believer and very easy and open person to talk with... he sparked my interest to pursue the spirit of the lord again... along with many other signs I decided to change my ways... Its been a slow process, and every day has its challenges. but I've made huge progress within these past months and man has it made a difference in my life! I for once, can say I can feel the Lord with me, I feel him guiding and directing me, I feel him through my prayers, I see his work at the most fascinating ways. I came forward to my boss today and confronted him. I let him know that he DID make a difference to me. Just last Sunday our pastor was preaching about the Parables of the lost ship, lost coin, and the two brothers. About how going out and searching for that one person, the one who sins but acknowledges his ways and comes to rejoice. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, just months prior all my boss was doing was spreading the word of God, and eventually, finally, I saw him work...
Since then as I said, I've been living a whole new life, still many many many flaws and "kinks" I still work on daily. But none the less, I pray, something I never dared to do. I read every night regardless if its several chapters or a couple verses. I have a knew perspective on people and the way I treat them, But the one thing that has stuck out the most to me, is the way I treat my girlfriend and what I can do to be a better boyfriend and hopefully a soon to be husband, and the Father I want to be to my children...
The reason I've joined is to better learn and understand what I read every night, I learn and understand better when someone preaches or simplifies a chapter. so, I hope to meet people who are like me, looking to learn and become a better Christian. I thank you all for welcoming me and can't wait to be apart of what God is doing here. Thank you.
